happy (belated) birthday, ro
I saw that 1 december drawing you made and was wondering if you had a particular city in mind when you designed that cake. (My first thought was Sibiu but I'm not sure) P.S. You're the only person in the hetalia fandom I've seen genuinely interested in my country so thank you
Ah, you weren’t too far off! It’s supposed to be Peleș Castle, which you may have heard of as a Romanian, but for my followers who don’t know about this gorgeous place, I’ll give you a brief photo tour of why Peleș is my favorite castle.
Peleș Castle (actually a palace) was built between 1873 and 1914 for King Carol I and the Romanian royal family as a summer home and hunting lodge. Carol fell in love with the Carpathian Mountains surrounding Sinaia, and commissioned the construction of Peleș Castle just outside the city. It houses an impressive armory and collection of paintings, and is now a national monument. While Bran Castle is more well known for its associations with Bram Stoker and Dracula, I think Peleș Castle is SO much more elegant and deserving of more attention!

La mulți ani, Ro! Happy birthday!

[day 9] i saw this tweet and immediately thought of prurom
Hi! I saw your point in your post about names and I agree so much, some names used in this fandom seem really low-effort and badly researched. Even canon names too, because why the hell does Estonia have a German name? Lukas is actually a relatively popular name in Norway, but I understand your point about his 'surname' and about Romania being referred to as 'Vlad' all the time, so I wanted to ask: what are your favourite human names for them?
oof, yes, the canon names are their own dumpster fire that I’ve luckily avoided for the most part by isolating myself in the Balkan Peninsula. :> And you’re right about the current popularity of Lukas/Lucas, my point is simply that for a semi-immortal being who’s been alive for hundreds of years, a name with older nordic roots seems more suitable to his character (but… supposing you hc that nations take on different alias throughout the decades to maintain their anonymity… and thus your modern No.rway now goes by Lukas… then sure, you do you).Personally, I prefer names that are fairly common, originate from the country of choice, are consistent with the time period, preferably have historical origins, and that are NOT currently associated with one high-profile, specific person (especially potentially controversial people like current politicians or historical leaders). My name of choice for Ro is “Mircea” (MEER-cha), as it has been a popular name in Ro.mania since the time of Mircea the Elder/Mircea the Great and therefore fulfills all of my conditions quite nicely, really. I adopted the name from an old mutual on here whose characterization of Ro cemented him as my favorite aph nation, so I’ve been associating it with Ro since the beginning.Other names I’ve seen and am cool with include “Mihai,” “Ion,” and “Alexandru,” but they may not fit for a particular time period so additional research is always your friend! I’ll admit that I really don’t bother much with a surname for Ro but I’ve used “Ionescu” in the distant past and I like @romanianwarrior ‘s “Tomescu” (Just please, please don’t use “Popescu” cause it’s just as basic as “Vlad” and the two are usually used together, sigh.)For No.rway, I really like @caffinatedstory‘s “Erik/Eiríkr Sørensen,” and she lists out her name rationale really excellently here. Hope that answers your question!
[day 8] the nth meeting of the “popular fanon human name based on a basic and/or crappy political figure” support group... cheers bro i’ll drink to that

It’s October 1st and you know what that means! My long-time followers know all about this god-forsaken tradition... but for those of you who haven’t heard yet... buckle up kids. Roinktober is an APH Ro.mania-themed spin-off of the annual tradition of inktober. This will be my SIXTH consecutive year carrying the roinktober torch.... Anyone is welcome to join in at any time and for however long you want, all you need to do is draw aph ro in ink of some kind and post your stuff so that I can find it and shower it with my love and affection! I strongly encourage you to tag your stuff with #roinktober so I can add your lovely art to the official roinktober blog. Good luck everyone and happy inking!
A playlist for APH Romania's childhood self, Wallachia. Growing up in the shadow of the Ottoman Empire, young Wallachia is as wild and untamed as the might Danube.
Another playlist! This time, songs and instrumentals for Wa.llachia, whom I consider to be modern Ro.mania’s impish childhood self (the actual history is pretty messy, so just bear with me on this one). Surrounded by powerful nations like the Bul.garian Empire, and later the Otto.mans, Walla was always the underdog. Fighting enemies many times stronger than himself, he relied on his sharp tongue and blade to survive...
