"Isn't She Lovely" is very explicitly a song about Black joy, specifically the joy of Black parenthood. Stevie Wonder's first daughter, whose birth the song is about, is named Aisha, which means "life" and "prosperity". If you need the evidence any clearer, the opening of the song features a newborn's cries, and in the extended version there's a long instrumental section over audio of Stevie giving Aisha a bath.

It doesn't surprise me that "Isn't She Lovely" was used as a coming-out allegory— transitioning can definitely feel like a sort of rebirth— but it saddens me that it was at the expense of the song's Black core. Considering Goose and her track record, this was likely a fully conscious decision and not simply an ignorant misstep.

my past self is goofy for unbraiding the non-crochet part of my bangs bc they’re all wavy nowww i tried to rebraid them but they unraveled every time

plus i randomly hacked at some of my braids so the layers are uneven but ig ill cut the rest of them…plus i have to crochet even more hair in so that i can actually tease it

i can’t wait to get new scene braids bc i feel like i fcked up on these ones but they’re salvageable
