Maddie hated this mall because she always, without fail, saw someone she knew here. It wasn’t that she was antisocial, or everyone she knew was awful, it was just… Actually, no, everyone she knew was awful. She found exhibit a when she literally bumped into April Devenport. Maddie recoiled and almost apologized when she heard April tell her to watch it. It would take all Maddie’s strength to bite her tongue, and she did not have the energy for that right now. Instead, she snapped, “Why don’t you?”
She was so worked up about what had happened at home, her mum had gone AWOL again, leaving her to take care of her brother, again. But things had gone south and he'd gotten in a fight with some asshole, meaning that their mum came home to see him looking very much worse for wear, and her aiming all her anger towards April. She'd known Maddie for a while, liking her when she dated her older brother, but her mind wasn't focussing right now, she didn't think she was capable of being nice to anyone at the current time, no matter how much she liked the person. ‘ Well WHY is it always my responsibility ? Can't anyone in this god damn town take accountability for their own actions ?! ’ The words uncharacteristically dripped from her lips like poison.
Feeling the gust of air lift her ponytail as the door slammed behind her, April was angry. Not just angry, she was straight up exasperated with a side of vexed. Her feet practically stomping with every step she took, she probably looked like a little girl mid tantrum. The blonde was basically known for being a ball of sunshine to everyone 24/7, she felt sour being like this, which just made her more irritated. She'd arrived at the mall, plump lips in a pout as she roamed around needlessly, not even taking in any of the shops or people around her. The only thing that tore her from her basically blacked out demeanour was the person who she bumped in to. She knew it was her fault, but still she reacted. ‘ Watch where you're walking. ’ The words uncharacteristically dripped from her lips like poison.
I was so close to giving you everything. I was so close to making myself good for you, but I couldn’t stomach it.

“Yeah, I guess.” She shrugged, not quite sure if that could even be true for the two of them. They were too different and too similar at the same time, like strangers when she came back from boarding school. Not sure how to deal with their new family dynamic, much less how to deal with each other. Shaking her head at her comment, Bridget couldn’t help but laugh in agreement. “God, sometimes I really don’t know how you could be friends with her. History, I guess.” That’s what seemed to bind them all together. “I’m sure she’ll cool off. Just bribe her with some macaroons or something.”
‘ You know, a lot of people ask me how I've stayed friends with her for so long, and there's so many reasons that I feel like I can't put them into words, but I guess a lot of people only see the side of her that puts her in a negative light. ’

“i was on my way to get an iced coffee anyway,” she said, with a playful roll of her eyes, brushing away april’s comment. “everyone knows if you say them out loud, they won’t come true.” she looped their arms together, the sun kissing their skin, “and i need all the wishes i can get right now. starting with no weird notes being taped to my door, or my car getting wrecked.” she murmured quietly, only loud enough for April to hear.
‘ Do you think someone who was there is doing it ? ’ The occurances that had been happening were starting to stress her out, creeping into her mind when she was alone, causing that night to play over and over in her head again, she thought she'd gotten past that stage. Apparently not.
hey hi i’m tired but i’ll be on tomorrow

“But if not me, who else would you be able to roll your eyes and banter at?” He smirked, the cigarette dancing between his lips, muffling his speak, but only adding to his flippant tone, “It’s kumbaya–– you scratch my back, I scratch yours,” The male teased, chin lifting a little higher, his smirk following suit. As she came to a halt though, he took another stride, before swiveling around to face her, no more than half a foot apart as his eyes landed on hers, waiting for her to finally spit it out. He was met with action instead, the Marlboro being plucked from his lips, his brows furrowing, eyes following after the unlit butt. He smiled, pressing forward, “… Still trying to keep that new car smell? You know, Devenport, that won’t get a guy in the back of it any faster,” He teased, reaching up to her, his elbow brushing along hers with each step as he leaned down to speak the words in a growing murmur, “Take me somewhere else. Not to Noah’s… As much as I love Evelyn,” The brunette japed, referring to Ms. Shaeffler with sudden ease, “Anywhere with a reasonably comfortable surface to lay on–”
‘ Who say's I'm trying to get any man in her, huh ? You should count yourself lucky that I'm even letting you anywhere near her. ’ She'd treated the car like her baby ever since it was gifted to her from her grandfather when she got her license, so letting someone in there who had the potential to soil it (from vomiting or other bodily fluids) meant that there was at least some sort of trust between the two of them. With the cigarette she'd freshly plucked from his lips now in her hand, she held it behind her back as she broke the close proximity between them, attempting to coax his inebriated self towards a graceful entrance into her Jaguar E type. Once she'd brought her long legs into the vehicle she handed back the Marlboro with a stern look in her eye, silently warning him not to even think about igniting it. As soon it was back in his hand her features softened, a small smile on her lips as she turned the key in the ignition. ‘ Well there's no way I can take you to my house in case you were hoping for that. My mom will try and hit on you and it won't be pretty, but there's a park near there with a playground, we can go there. ’
brvdgets:
“I really envy Briana in that way, you know, how she got to go to boarding school and get away from our mom. It was better that way. Because I sure as hell wouldn’t have known where to start with her.” At least not when everything with her family started going down. She was an absolute wreck. Hell, she still was. And she hoped her sister had fared better then she had, not that she really had any idea on the subject. She’d been too self-absorbed in her own problems to really check. “Don’t beat yourself up about it. You were on opposite sides of the country for all this time. She can’t expect you to be a mind reader.”
‘ I think she would have liked to share that closeness with you if she stayed, you would have been going through it together. ’ She couldn't help the refined smile that appeared across her lips at the thought of her brother. He was so special to her, the fact that they worked through their family situation together made it a lot easier. ‘ This is Kass we're talking about, she definitely would have expected that. ’

“What I need are bath salts,” He retorted jestfully, tone riddled with a faux matter-of-fact, and though he didn’t usually inhale or ingest drugs–– for obvious reasons–– the incident at the bonfire last week had his urges high and his decency low, “… But I’ll take your ride, Devenport,” The brunette pushed up a slow smile, leaning off the brick wall, his hand lifting to pull the loose cigarette from the tucked position behind his ear, “You can’t take me home,” He looked down, at the blonde, brown eyes finding her blue, “My mom will cry if she sees me like this. You’ll have to take me to Noah’s, or someplace else,” Something of mischief surrounded the suggestion as he began walking away, waiting for her to lead. He had no idea where he was going, but he knew he was content, the boy, putting the Marlboro between his lips. He moved to take off his coat, cheekbones accentuated, brows down in a knot, “You can blame the stink on the neanderthal I was sitting next to. He upchucked on our table after a shot of Don Julio–” He explained, “I, April, came out of the womb smelling like Armani.”
‘ Be careful, Hadlee, the silver spoon up your ass is showing ’ She sighed, finding it hard to refrain from rolling her eyes at the tall boy standing across from her who she sometimes thought was literally the defintion of conspicuous in the way he displayed his riches to the people around him, strangers or not. ‘ I'm pretty sure Noah is with Kass right now, you can go chill with his mom if you want, she's a lovely lady, but it's up to you. ’ She really didn't want to give him the satisfaction of saying that she was bored and wanted to go do something. Her brother was no where to be found, and she was sick of looking at the doors of the dying club in the hopes of spotting him. ‘ Let's go, ’ She stated, pushing a blonde strand behind her ear before approaching Harrison, eyes locking with a smirk, she opened her mouth as if to say something, but stopped, instead reaching up and pulling the cigarette from his lips. ‘ --- but you can't smoke in my car. ’
brvdgets:
“Sometimes I don’t even understand how we’re even related. She can just be so.. overbearing. They were our age once too, I just don’t get it.” Shrugging, her lips turning down into a pout. If anyone understood what she meant, it was April. It was one of the first things they bonded on. Maybe they wouldn’t have been so wild if it weren’t for their crazy mothers. “Yeah, I heard about that. She was going on and on about fake friends to me, I actually felt kind of bad for her for a second. But I know how Kass can be, so..”
‘ You and I got pretty crazy sometimes, and we were still more responsible. I think my little brother thought I was his mom when he was really young, even though there's not much of an age difference between us, but I was just doing what she should have been doing. ’ She was always thankful that Bridget had a similar family situation, it meant that through the most frustrating moments, through all those times she wanted to run away and never look back, there was always someone who could relate. ‘ She was definitely aiming that at me, but I honestly couldn't work out what I'd done, which makes me feel so much worse. What kind of person can't work out why their best friend is feeling so bad ? A terrible one. ’
harrisonhadlee:
Right foot and then left; a zig-zag of scuffles, his hand-stitched rubber soles jolting loose cement as he quickly meandered his way out of the club and into the warm air. Considerably free, his hand, perspiring and elongated dropped from his companion’s shoulder. Regardless, it was cooler than it had been inside. His back quickly found the brick exterior wall of the building loopily, in momentary and desperate rest, his head lifted towards the sky, his eyes closed, silence fleetingly hooking itself into his presence.
“I’m fucked,” He finally muttered, neck rolling down, a cigarette tucked firmly behind his ear. Glass, breakable umber eyes, on the other hand, found the other’s frame, a whiff of fine liquor seeping from his smirked mouth, steady and prepared with his usual dark caper, “Hold my hair back while I spritz some coke onto my face–”
Her fingers expertly tapped the screen of her phone, sending a message to her brother that she was waiting out the front to pick him up from his night out. She'd been leaning against the door of her vintage jaguar for an exceptionally slow twenty minutes. Nervously fiddling with the hem of her shorts as her eyes filtered through the multiple people exiting the thriving club, she felt completely underdressed, and not at all covered up as she noticed an uncomfortable amount of people eyeing her long legs, she'd never felt so sober in her life. She was quite alarmed when a voice appeared next to her, absentmindedly holding her car keys in a defensive position in case things went south. But when the familiarity of the voice came into account, she let the keys jingle around freely, raising an eyebrow at Harrison. ‘ Thank god you are fucked or I'd be seriously questioning your choice of cologne. You smell like my mother on a Monday afternoon, and that's not a good thing. --- Do you need a ride home ? ’
Three knocks broke the silence around the tall blonde as she waited nervously outside the Walmsley residences' prestigious front door. Things had not gone down well between the two girls at the bonfire, and she hated herself for it. Hardly any sleep had gone down in the time since, she'd barely spent any time trying to make herself look nice, and it really showed. Her hair could probably be mistaken for a birds nest and her clothes looked somewhat like an ensemble people would wear to bed (3/4 exercise leggings and a t-shirt), she knew it probably wasn't the best state to visit Kass in, but she didn't even care at this point. April just wanted everything to be good between them. She was staring down at the puma's on her feet when the sudden opening of the door caused her head to snap up so quick that it could of broken. She put on her most genuine smile, holding up the two drinks she held in her hand to the ginger standing across from her. ‘ Apology coffee ? ’
@wtfkass
alialvrrz:
she was jolted back a step, a scorn falling onto her doll-like features before a laugh was scuttling past her lips at the quick realization of who she had collided into. the laugh echoing around the cozy street. “i’ll do you one better, devenport. you let me toss those coins into the fountain so i can get a solid three wishes, and the coffee is on me.” she mused, adjusting her dress to its original form.
‘ Deal --- But only if you tell me what your wishes are. ’ Her long arm sprung out, manicured hands opening to reveal the sad excuse for spare change that her pocket had concealed, raising her eyebrows curiously. ‘ I feel like you've pulled the short straw of this arrangement, I promise I'll get you a coffee next time. ’
brvdgets:
Bridget smirked at the idea of April layering up in this heat. “Oh not exactly. Just trying to get out of the house, really. My mom’s on a packing kick, even though our new house isn’t even finished yet.” Rolling her eyes, she let out a dramatic sigh. “Not exactly in the mood to tear my room apart and figure out what I’m keeping or not keeping.” In all honesty, she was still planning to boycott the whole move altogether. Do something extra dramatic like chain herself to her bedroom door and say that she wasn’t going anywhere. “Clearly, I needed some things.” She laughed as she held up her bags before changing the subject. “So how are you after the dramatics of the bonfire?”
One thing April could always relate to Bridget about was their mothers, always causing uneccessary issues through their almost constant endeavours to make it seem like they're twenty years younger and much more appealing than what they actually are. ‘ Tell me about it, I'm practically a pro at escaping mommy daughter time with the almost child who is the woman who birthed me. ’ She joked with a breathy laugh. ‘ I actually feel like I got off easy, nothing too drastic occured other then a cold shoulder from Kass and some catch ups with old friends. ’
