I get WHY they probably had to recast William. Andrew Rannellis is a successful and busy actor and William doesn’t seem to have a major role this season so it might’ve just not been worthwhile for him to get in the booth for it (also… money. Maybe he was too expensive for them to justify the price tag for a small role this season). Or maybe the reverse is true, and Andrew wasn’t available for this season so they reduced his screentime in order to minimize the weirdness.

HOWEVER.

It is WEIRD to have such a beloved character who has been very present since the first episode of the show be suddenly voiced by someone different - and for it to be so different. It’s not like Rick’s or Titan’s voice actors changing, because they aren’t as important and the changes were close enough for both of them. But also because William’s personality IS his voice. He’s so expressive and funny because of Andrew, not because of how he’s written or how he’s animated.

So yeah… it’s a huge bummer. It’s nothing against the new voice actor, it’s just that Andrew has crafted such a distinct and hilarious William voice that is the entire charm of the character. And you can’t replicate that. I’m sure if the new VA sticks around, I’ll get used to it and his voice will grow on me. But for now - man it’s jarring.

watching the new invincible episode why the fuck did william randomly become a gay stereotype? like in the previous seasons it was kind of a thing but now all of a sudden they gave him a heavy fagcent and have him saying shit like "here for you babe" to his female friends which just feels like a 180. it feels like they were in the writing room like "okay this is our only gay character but he's not gay enough. we need to make him gayer"
