You should bribe slak into making a 2nd chat for users below whatever the age requirement is. A lot of us are serious and still want to learn but alone is hard and I wouldn't consider myself good enough yet to make an age friendly chat/community myself :)
I’m not sure what the protocol for that is, so I’ll just ping @slakgedakru.
We lifted our age restriction a while back, as long as you understand that while the community strives to be a safe place for all, some discussions are not PG and sometimes it can become heated with political opinions. Be mature. Contact an admin if you have any troubles at all.

As somebody who has just started to develop their own music taste and begin listening to metal (after growing up in a very strict and religious household), it blows my mind finding out that bands like Nightwish and Epica are ESL (English as a second language). The quality of their lyrics is outstanding, they are also very intelligent, deep and beautiful. If you compare their lyrics to ones written by Brits and Americans you can clearly tell who puts more thought into their creative process.

I love NIGHTWISH but i’m getting of sick of them, especially due to the zillions of reaction videos out there on YouTube to feed the fanboy and fangirl egos of their crazy fan base (especially the pretentious Floor and Tarja fan boys), to the point that they even call them their religion. It’s ridiculous.
PREACH!

@21122 I honestly still don’t really know how to feel about her. I love her music and Life Screams helped me through a pretty rough patch in my life, but now you have metioned some of this which I didn’t know about such as the whole Putin thing and the North Carolina bill, as someone who has family members who fall into the LGBT+ community I honestly feel like regardless ot how much I like her music she isn’t worth it, which is a shame. Also I love the ending and now for the weather that really made me laugh.
JUST STFU!!!!

Epica have the most beautiful album artwork ever.
PREACH!

I’m always really bummed when I hear someone calling Epica preachy. I mean, they aren’t lecturing you directly, there is no reason to feel defensive. Besides, all that they talk about is making the world a better place, nothing to get upset about. If you don’t like it, just don’t listen. Problem solved!

I quite dislike the argument that when bands are taking more time it means their future album will be better, more thought out, profound, or whatever. For me, for example, Epica was “spiting out” albums every other year and I still found it better than albums from many bands who decided to take longer. Everyone is free to take as much time as they want but slower doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better.
PREACH!

Forget about Lacey Sturm… stan Amy Grant instead! She an lgbt + friendly gospel singer and her music is much better, plus her music reminds me of Belinda Carlisle’s.
FUCK YOU. You can promote a musician without creating some prejudice towards the other singer. THIS IS WHY A LOT OF PEOPLE DESPISE THE LIKES OF YOU, the entitlement complex!

I think the only reason people like to forget the whole Juliet Simms attacking her husband on the plane thing is because she’s a woman. If she were a man her career would be over.
FUCK you, this confessor reeks of misogyny!!! FUCK YOU

I love Epica as a band but feel that Simone Simons isn’t a good enough vocalist for them. Simone is great for the studio and live acoustics. But I have seen some of their live performances and her voice at times sounds weak, flat, off key and powerless with her operatic voice at times sounding thin and far too airy. I feel their original singer Helena Iren Michaelsen would fit the sound of the band and who I feel is a better vocalist, especially live. PLEASE DON”T CALL ME A HATER, it’s just what I feel. Maybe if she got some more in depth vocal training she could be better.
FUCK YOU!

This is no shade but Simone Simons looks like she would be a tradwife on Twitter.
fuck you whoever you are!!!!!

As much as I like NIGHTWISH, I’m so sick of react videos about them on YouTube.

@20583 I made the confession about them glamourising mental illness and my answer is:
MUSIC IS ART AND ART IS SUBJECTIVE
Also, how we as individuals interpret lyrics, is not everyone will have the same interpretation so where you find familiarity I will find something that could be seen as making it seem glamorous which again shows the subjectiveness of art and how ambiguous some lyrics can be, our brains work in different ways and we will not always agree on what someone is singing about.
Hope this helps.
