@devilishlylawed - Song based Starter - Demon!Remy
Overdose - Memphis May Fire ft Blindside
It wasn't all the time Remy ran into someone that was pretty close to his own kumiho heritage. Yet here he was standing in an alleyway watching humans walking to and frow from whatever mundane human things they had going on. The scent of another fox hitting him like a train. The demon had lit a cigarette, it now hanging between his lips as he just stared. Glowing crimson eyes caught the individual from where the scent had originated. He recognized him. From ads, right? Advertisements for a law firm? His brows knitted together as he attempted to wrack is brain for something that honestly didn't really matter.
He was doing a damn good job at hiding who he was, but he wasn't hiding it well enough. Other supernatural beings would be able to pick up on it quickly. Just as Remy had.
The cigarette had burned to the filter and he hissed at the taste, flicking it onto the ground before crushing it under his boot. His human guise was damn near perfect, the other parts he couldn't really hide, well he blamed on being a mutant. A scapegoat really. Though his powers mimicked the mutated humans greatly.
His boots clicked against the concrete as he began to follow from afar. He best tail him or he'd lose his little snack that he was almost giddy to partake in. The hunger had been clawing at him for a few days, it was time to quench it or he was going to do something stupid and draw more attention to himself. That, he couldn't have. He bled into the pedestrians whom were walking about. His coat was pulled tight, his collar pulled up to shield his face. His pace quick, using his nose more than his eyes in this instance. The eyes would give him away, he needed to conceal them the best he could until he could corner the other.
When he got close enough, he walked alongside him, head tilted towards him before speaking, his voice soft. "Why... what do we got 'ere?" The kumiho breathed, "Yer scent smells awfully good. Like...hmm...somethin' warm and sweet." He clicked is tongue at the end of the word.
Tense. He was tense. It was like he was being watched, yet his senses were still adjusting to being tempered with from his previous scuffle with a fox spirit. It had been hard to go back to a semblance of normality with all these little changes affecting both body and mind in ways that he thought wouldn't happen. But with his previous training, it wasn't going to get the best of him, he only needed to adapt, to get comfortable, everything would be fine. Not only that, having to explain to others why he had to redo his entire collection of shoes had been annoying - he hated how noticeable that part was, but it wasn't like he could fix it, he had figured the hard way that it was absolutely permanent and that he'd just have to deal with it.
Cane was firmly held in one hand, swaying from side to side to guide him along as he made his way back home slowly from a rather busy day at the law firm. Matt could sense it, a presence, following him, tracking him, but he focused on paying it no mind, there were others around, they didn't need to be implied in anything - after all, who would make a mess out in the open, unless they were an absolute psycho?
The scent didn't help, either, it bothered him. And once the other got close enough, he could feel his own muscle tense up even more once he spoke, head barely tilting, ear pointed toward the kumiho, listening.
“ ..I'm sorry? ” came the innocent question, playing dumb, pretending, despite he had a solid idea of why all of that was said. “ I'm afraid I didn't catch that. ” Best to see what this one's motives were. Surely, he wouldn't cause a scene with a blind man, would he?
ᡕᠵデᡁ᠊╾━ ┈⌯⁍𖦏 ❝ 「 Is that a fact? 」 ❞ The safety is clicked off.
❝ 「 You’re snooping around the wrong spot. Best not to get too nosy. 」 ❞ Hell's kitchen seemed made for him to move right into. He felt at home in this synthetic habitat. Hood went to work the day he got into town and has been steadily trying to get his foot in the door and his product on the streets as soon as possible. He was currently specializing in high powered unregistered hand guns. Something he wanted in the hands of every criminal here with enough cash to afford them.
The devil made him uneasy. There was something in Daredevils form that got under Hood's skin, like he knew more than he should. ❝ 「 The misstep seems to be all yours, old man. 」 ❞
He knew the safety was coming off way before the sound resonated into his ears. But judging by this man's words, he hadn't had a clue yet, did he? Hell's kitchen was his territory, and most criminals knew about him, they knew that they had to bid their time, that Daredevil had ears everywhere. Him? Making a mistake? Unlikely when he was just in his element - fists itching for a fight, itching for violence, an outlet that he knew he could go around better but in the moment, he did not care. He simply smirked, waiting, listening, feeling.
He could sense that he was making the other uneasy. Might as well make it worse.
“ Seems to be mine? Are you sure? ” Matt replied, taunting as fingers twitched - a warning, although a small one. “ Because the only mistake I can find here, is that you aren't trusting your gut. ” Those words barely had the time to come out that he swiftly ducked out of the way to the side, a kick soon aimed at the other's legs to force him off his feet before he bounced away, putting some distance between them in case of retaliation. And should that gun get shot, then he'd have more time to react to it - even if his reflexes were already top notch.
“ No one told you, have they? This neighborhood is mine. ”

Gun is pointed at his head
For someone that had a gun pointed directly at his head, he was eerily composed. Daredevil simply stayed still, seemingly staring down the barrel of the gun – it wasn't like this guy knew he actually couldn't see. He knew that Red Hood kept his finger secured on that trigger, willing to shoot at any moment but that did not scare the devil one single bit, instead he simply barely tilted his head, the corner of his lips twitching slightly before he exhaled softly, fingers curled around his billy clubs tightly yet no movement was made just yet.
“ You know, people don't get to sneak up on me. ” He stated, his tone calm as his focus shifted from his surroundings to specifically the two of them, syncing itself up to the other man's body, to his heartbeat, to the small bit of sweat he could sense behind what he could tell was a mask. Not that he cared, he could memorize someone by other ways.
“ But if I were you, I'd put the gun down before you make a terrible mistake. ” Those words could easily pass as a threat - which was exactly what he wanted. The grip he held upon his clubs tightened ever so slightly, waiting.
Tony knows there was no way he could hide anything from the other. He wasn't dumb, but he also couldn't help his own body. Yet there were even times when someone as smart as he let his guard down. Sure, their relationship started to piss off others. To even, having him hang around the other more and more when it didn't count as work — Tony had no idea what he was doing anymore. Yet he was enjoying someone who could just give it back to him whenever. A small weakness, but one he didn't show to often.
Though his voice was quiet for a moment as the other spoke. The male's eyes watched how the other moved, and there was always a pride in the other's movement. Lawyers always had one, even if the man might be blind, he had it too. “Hmm.?” a hum from his lips for a moment, as he titled his head just a little bit.
Trying to remain calm for a moment, the male lean back and stretch in his seat. The fact the other could notice something like that was a little worse for him. Then again, someone could have told him --there would be no way the other could. So what Tony's nightmares where coming back, and he's been having issues sleeping. He's been throwing himself more into a work at night then resting. That's on him – the other didn't have to worry, but the longer he remain quiet the more it would prove the other was right. “ Small breaks, here or there. To eat, because that's what humans do.” he exhale a sigh from his lips. “ But when you run a company, small breaks is all you can get.” he lied, he could take a moment, or a vacation for himself to have time. On time of building new suits, he didn't think much about what he was letting him show off.
" But, Matt. you don't have to worry. Whatever I'm doing isn't something you need to worry about it. If something happens, it's my own fault~" this might not be the straightest answer, but it was one.
The lawyer's brows found themselves furrowing as what little worries he had turned out to be true. Sure, it wasn't his business at all, Tony could take care of himself, but to see – no, to sense him be like this, be this exhausted, small breaks weren't something that were going to cut it. He lowered his head slightly, one hand rising to scratch at his cheek lightly as he listened, focusing on what the millionaire was saying, despite he easily picked up the difference in tone as Tony just lied to his face. Just that fact told him enough - he wanted to trust him, he really did, but for that to happen, it felt.. off. It didn't feel right to him.
He opened his mouth for a moment but his voice died in his throat, forcing him instead to just close it and stay quiet. He knew he didn't have to worry, he knew that too well, but after keeping this act for so long, Matthew had found himself caring more than he thought he would. His head would barely tilt to the side, his senses focusing on the other's body language once more, taking note of how fast Tony's heart was beating - that wasn't normal at all, considering he had felt how calm Stark could be before.
“ ..Tony. ” His voice came out, softer than before, worry clear within his tone. “ I know, it's not my business to worry, you can take care of yourself just fine, but.. ” He trailed off, the hand resting upon the desk lifting up to take hold of his cane, his grip on it tightening. “ ..I do find myself worrying, for you, for your well being. As a friend, I trust you know what's best for you, I know that there are things that are going on, and it's none of my business to inquire what they are, but I do want you to know that if you need me to lend an ear to listen, I'm more than willing. I promise you I won't judge, we all have our own issues. ” He finally breathed out, feeling a small weight lift from his shoulders.
Curse his caring nature, despite how selfish he knew he could be at a moment's notice.
“ Also.. I don't appreciate being lied to my face. The difference in your voice and the way your breathing barely hitched before you spoke gave it away. ” At least he was being honest in how he felt, Tony couldn't tell him that he wasn't, but with how eerily calm Matt was during this whole exchange, perhaps it would give the other enough to think about.
(This is bound to be edited from times to times, I will give a heads up when I do ~)
The concept of :
Making deals, Wrestling for power over your own body, The struggles of adjusting with new body alterations, You saved yourself but at what cost?, Refusing to use newly found powers, Having to hide your identity even harder than before, The guilt of choices, The threat of slowly losing yourself, A sleeping beast within, Am I a monster?, Being unable to face the truth.
Setting : Comics timeline for the most part. Canon divergent however.
Inspiration : Kitsunes, Fox spirits, with some headcanons of my own.
(im too lazy to write a proper story for now lmfao. The tl'dr is just pact to survive after almost killing each other and Matt just lives with his damn regrets 24/7. go figure the rest of how it happened for now.)
Notes:
Ears and tail can appear and disappear at will, be it actually furred or spectral ones.
5 tails total. Can keep it to a single one visible though.
Feet, however, are permanently changed to digitigrade due to fox spirits being unable to fully change their form to human. He needed a whole new wardrobe of shoes.. They can become paws, no he won't let you squish his feet unless you're dating him and even then it's a big IF.
Capable of using fox fire, but prefers to stick to his usual. However if pushed into a corner where his usual isn't enough, he will tap into that power.
Capable of teleportation, though the results leaves much to be desired. Usually on complete accident, distance varies.
Can transform into a full fox if he does lose control, can actually knock him out to revert it.
A little more feral than normal. He tries his best to keep it in check though.
No, he doesn't know how to fox. 0 clue on that. Someone save him.
No one knows about it. He's been trying to keep it to himself and many times he's almost slipped up. It's hard.
@devilishlylawed demandé “The raccoon is not our pet. Put it down.” [ oops ]
Remy frowned, looking down at the furry creature in his arms. It was content. The Cajun had five-fingered it some dinner and it seemed happy to be in his arms. Thus, he claimed it as another pet. He gathered lizards and other critters before as pets, what's a racoon added to the list? "Non, dis is Tater." He said, carefully adjusting the mammal in his grasp. He knew Matt couldn't see him, but....
He couldn't see it, but gods, could he smell it. He tried to put his discomfort to the side for the moment despite his brow was slightly furrowed above crimson tinted glasses. While he could tell that the animal was clearly rather calm within the Cajun's arms, when he sensed Remy adjust his hold of it, Matt opened his mouth for a moment, wanting to say something before closing it and shaking his head. No, he knew that arguing right now would lead no where. Sure, he had gotten used to the cats and lizards, but that was different- this, this was a raccoon and the faint scent of trash that still remained upon the mammal was seriously bothering his nose.
“ Remy… ” He began, a hand reaching up to adjust his glasses back in place, head tilted to face the Cajun, sightless eyes seemingly staring his way. “ While I'm glad that you've made friends with the wild life again, the stench emitting from it is…… troublesome. ” Perhaps that was one of the gentlest ways he could put it without being too rude about it.
Matthew's attention was focused onto Tony, carefully tuned in to his heartbeat, the way his muscles moved and the way his scent changed so faintly, but he knew that the other was well aware that he could just do that. If Stark remembered was up to him. Hands carefully held onto the handle of his cane as he leaned barely against it, brows raising ever so slightly when he could feel the brunette's stare upon him. The small spike up in speed of the millionaire's heart rate made the lawyer tilt his head to the side, lips pressed together for just a moment as he heard the other out.
“ No, it's not that, Tony. ” He spoke softly, straightening himself before he moved from where he was standing, one hand extended in front of him to navigate seeing that the space around them was occupied by too much for him to use his cane. Fingertips brushed against a desk before he put his hand on it once he stopped but a few feet away from Tony, a small, gentle smile crossing his lips.
“ Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the company, and I'm glad that you're actually taking the steps to adapt around me - even if you don't really need to. ” It was all part of keep appearances on top of keeping quiet about the lawyer's double identity. “ I can't help but worry that you may be overexerting yourself at times - you have been taking breaks, have you? ” An innocent question that he already knew the answer to, but knowing from one's body language was different and more invasive than hearing straight from their mouth.
And knowing how Tony was, chances were that he wouldn't get the answer he wanted, but it was always worth a try, no?

❛ you didn't hear a word of what i just said, did you? ❜
A small tilt of his head was given, eyebrow slowly raising as his hands clutched his cane lightly. A small smile curved the corner of his lips as he then turned his head toward Roy's general direction, pale blue eyes hidden behind crimson lenses slowly blinking before he lightly tapped the end of his cane against the ground, a chuckle leaving the blind man's throat. Was it bad that he found this slightly amusing? Maybe, but it wasn't the first time someone had asked him that very same question before.
Just because he couldn't see, didn't mean he didn't listen.
“ Don't worry, I've heard you loud and clear. ” He reassured, taking a moment to focus his senses upon the other, mostly to make sure that there was no actual ill will between them. “ I do believe I know someone that might be able to help you with that. ” His words were followed by a small nod of his head. If he couldn't help in his current state, then he could easily help out much later, once he donned the usual red garb of Daredevil. Though, it was better if Roy didn't learn so soon that he was actually Daredevil - not until he learned more about him.
“ If you'd like, I could put you two in touch. How does that sound? ”

❛ you don't have to leave just yet ... you could stay the night if you wanted to. ❜
/ oopsie! flees~
Her words gave the redhead pause, head slightly tilting to strain his ear over to her,. Only judging from her tone of voice, he could tell that she wanted him to stay, but deep inside, Matt knew that he couldn't. He had other things to attend to - if only his life style allowed him to sit still during the evenings, alas it was just a fantasy. It didn't take too long for him to tilt his head away, resuming putting back the horned mask he had previously taken off, standing up soon after, only for him to stretch lightly. Once more, his head cocked to the side, carefully listening, syncing in to every little change of the sorceress' body language.
“ Wanda, ” his voice came out soft, gentle. “ You'll have to forgive me, I'm afraid I can't stick around, not today. ” the devil then added, turning around to face her. The way that those muscles twitched, knowing fully well that it was just the beginning of a frown forming, it only confirmed what he had been thinking this whole time. She wanted company - his company. Swallowing lightly, a hand carefully reached out, his radar senses allowing to know exactly where the other was and soon enough, his palm would make contact with her cheek, his thumb gently stroking it, hoping that it would bring some sort of comfort, despite everything else.
He offered the lightest of smile along with that gesture.
“ Maybe another day.. ” He weighed his words as he spoke, carefully choosing them as he wanted her to say it instead of him simply relying on his senses to give him the information he needed to make a good guess at what was going on within the sorceress' head in the moment. How he hated the fact that part of him felt like his heart ached. A surreal feeling, for someone that had tried to stick to his own business and avoid any relationship that could give him trouble. It was his problem, and not a problem that was due to anyone else, either.
And so, he pulled his hand away, allowing it to return to his side.
