Christmas Mischief
You canât do this, you canât do thatâŚitâs against the rules to do thisâŚSode no Shirayuki was tired of hearing those words from the school board and all those who ran Ouran. Though she had been working in this school for a long time, she was not so high up to be able to call her own shots in many things. The issue in particular at this moment was the idea of having class on a day such as this. It was glorious in all its wonder!
Looking outside the window, it was snowing for as far as the eye could see. The ground was covered in the soft powder that by now would probably reach the ankles of her feet if she were to walk out into the weather. Yet here she sat inside her empty classroom just looking out at the scenery through the window she had carefully slid open. It was a little difficult with the ice that had accumulated throughout the night, but she was able to nevertheless and now she could enjoy the chilling wind and snow that would blow in whenever the wind picked up in her direction.Â
The principal didnât know it, but Sode no Shirayuki sent a letter home with all her students the day before informing them that she would not be having class on this day. It wasnât because of the holiday known as âChristmas,â but because she had felt the change in the air and she knew without a doubt that snow was on its way. Snow wasnât exactly a reason to cancel a class, but it was something that was very close to Shirayukiâs heart. Of course she couldnât say that she could tell the change in the weather so she did let the reason fall under the excuse of the holiday.
All the same, she came to school as if there was class because she had disobeyed the rules of Ouran. If she just sat around and pretended like everything was as it should be, there was no reason for anyone to find out. It wasnât like anyone ever came into her class to begin with anyways so she didnât expect to see anyone finding out her secret. Unless a teacher happened to be watching the lack of students leaving her classroom when the bells rang or if they suspected something, but no one ever did with Sode no Shirayuki. She was a model teacher! She was polite and respectable; everything someone would want in a teacher. If only they knew what this sort of weather did to her. The cold and the snow was like another extension to Shirayuki. No one would ever understand. Except for my lady Rukia. Only one who was connected with the spirit herself would know these warmâŚor should she say chillâŚfeelings she had for the snow that blew all around outside.Â
She was uncertain how much time had passed in the classroom alone. The ice spirit had been so caught up in her own thoughts as she sat by the open window. Since she was the only one in the room, there was no need for her to worry about anyone else catching a cold and it wasnât like she could get sick from this weather, if she could get sick at all. So she sat and let the snow blow into her face and she even went as far as to stretch her arm outside the window. The icy chill of the wind swirled around her hand, bringing a wicked grin over her delicate features. No one would suspect that she was fueling this weather around her.Â
The clock was ticking, but Shirayuki knew school was still in progress. When she heard her door opening and closing, she became aware that someone else was in her presence though she wasnât hasty in turning to see who. It wasnât easy to explain, but she was very aware of the spiritual pressure of the teachers and all those who were above her station so-to-speak. This presence was unfamiliar though.Â
With her hand still sticking outside the window, the woman lazily turned her head to look at who had entered her room. Well he was most certainly not one of her students. She couldnât remember anyone having red hair like thatâŚ
âHello there, hope Iâm not bothering you.âÂ
She gave him a very curious look. âNot at all.â She withdrew her hand from the window and stood from her chair to straighten herself out. Snow was still stuck to her wind-blown hair but she paid little mind to that. Instead she turned away just for a moment so that she could close the window before looking back at the newcomer. âApologies for how cold it must be in this room. I wasnât expecting anyone in here.â
The silent question of why he was there lingered after she paused in her silence. Hopefully he would catch on.Â
Loki stood silent for what seemed like an eternity, but in all actuality, only a moment had passed; all the while, his mind was racing with possible explanations as to his sudden appearance. Loki let out a nervous chuckle and turned his attention back to the door to confirm he was in the clear. When he glanced through the door's window, there was nothing to be seen. "Feeeew, that was close." Realizing that he was still be watched, Loki turned around and smiled at his new host. "Don't worry about it, I'd rather be outside than stuck here." He grinned his usual, devious grin.
Stepping forward and walking towards the window, Loki just stared out at the growing billows of snow. His eyes glazed over with excitement as he marveled at the prospect of running and jumping into the growing mounds. "The snow looks so soft, and inviting!" He turned to his host and laughed. "You appear to be extremely busy teaching a class full of people. No fun to be had, huh?" He figured some sarcastic jesting would take the attention off of the questions as to why he is really here. For all he knew, she would turn him in, and he would, no doubt-ably, get a month's worth of detention..... That would be utter torture for the energy abundant God.
After laughing, the mischievous God looked at the elegant woman and stepped forward. He turned to her desk and jumped on top of it, propping himself on his knees as he stood on the desk. He peered down to a corner of the desk where a neatly stacked pile of partially graded papers laid. Grabbing one of them up, he took a quick glance at it and then peered back up to the teacher. "What class is this?" Of course, Loki didn't really care, but he had to drag the attention away from himself any way he could.Â
Loki stood up and jumped off of the desk towards the teacher. Running by the teacher, he reached the window and flung it open, letting more white powder to enter the classroom. He stuck one foot on the window sill and looked back; "I'm sorry to have disturbed you, but I must take my leave now. You are welcome to join me if you like." He smiled widely and jumped towards the nearest pile of fresh powder.
