It’s open until 1st March 2018, it’s open to people in any country, and last year we got about 10,000 participants - you can see the results here.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a blog post summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

I’m sorry this is a bit personal and not a hoe tips but a bit inspirational.

So recently I broke up with my boyfriend of a year and a half. It was the hardest thing I’ve done and it took the wind out of my lungs every time I saw him. I cried and cried and cried. He no longer cared about me anyone and it showed, I kept hurting myself thinking he was still in love with me the way I was in love with him. I’d go out drinking with my friends only to text him saying I missed him with no responds. It was done. I felt so sorry for myself constantly and I didn’t think I deserved love.

But

I kept practicing cheer, my girls were so supportive. I’d practice and practice to get my mind away from what has happened. I began to feel better going to school everyday because I had my friends help me. I had so much more time now that I was newly single so I signed up to be a student council member and I do a lot for my school now. I focus on my grades, I wake up feeling less hurt by the fact of that whole year and a half wasted.

I gained my confidence back and a little while later. He didn’t fill my thoughts anymore, he didn’t make me feel like downing a whole bottle of jack on weekends just to make myself “happy” I will still always love him because he was a huge impact. But I’m a newer version on myself, I learned my self worth. It took a long time but I do.

It gets better, you just can’t allow yourself to wallow in the memories of the past for long. Hold your head up and high. And keep going.
