Neighbors - Yelena and Crina
@devushkivana
It amazed Yelena that she had finally scraped up enough money for an apartment, but it was definitely a relief to have a roof over her head. She wasn’t sure how long she could maintain it, but she was grateful that she had a steady stream of jobs for now. She didn’t exactly have too many possessions to move in, but she had a few boxes. When she got to the top of the stairs, she accidentally collided with someone, because she was too short to see over the top of her box.
“Shit - sorry!”
She’d heard about a new neighbor moving in, and had asked a bit about her, not finding out much. Most people in this building kept to themselves, anyway, which is why Crina liked it. No one asked questions about her or tried to get involved in her life.
When the woman walked into her, Crina reached out to steady her, peeking around the box. “Hi,” she said, with a small smile. “Need any help?”
charmingrelic:
“Tell ‘em I said hi.”
“I’ll be sure to.”
She looks away, leaning forward on her thighs. “So what do we do now, Barnes?”

“Thanks. …are you always this nice to people who snarl at you?”
“Maybe I’m hoping to guilt you into a good tip.”
aredpoison:
“Rough day at the office. Sorry.”
“I’ll make it a double, then.”
charmingrelic:
“By asking the right people the right questions.” Not that all of the answers spoke willingly. Folks are more willing to talk with a gun to their temple or a metal hand wrapped around their throat. Intimidation isn’t difficult. “And people like talking to me.”
Her hands tighten into fists. “I’ll have to remember to shut some mouths.”
“You shouldn’t be so hostile to the woman serving you drinks.”
