It’s a bit surreal that this even needs to be explained, but the Confederate flag was designed by white supremacists who dissented from the abolition of slavery. I get that you and your uncle Jim Bob like the flag, and you guys aren’t racist at all. However, the general public isn’t privy to you and your uncle Jim Bob’s weird nostalgic take on this flag that was literally carried onto battlefields by people who were willing to die in defense of slavery. Stop pretending to be all surprised when people assume that those who fly the flag are racist. Also, Kid Rock sucks.
You do know the freed southern slaves carried it into battle to defend the south. Js
Yes, some Confederate soldiers did bring their slaves with them into battle, and I’m sure that plenty were forced to carry the flag. Free African Americans willingly fighting for the south is a rather silly myth though. Even if there wasn’t historic evidence against it (don’t worry, there is) what sense would it make for an African American man to fight for the proponents of his own enslavement? The Confederate army had a strict policy that if you weren’t certifiably white, then you couldn’t be a solider in its ranks. If I remember correctly, there were two black militias in the south, but these were just state militias who saw virtually no combat. Other than that, the only blacks on the battlefield were Union soldiers and servants that Confederate soldiers brought along. In March, 1865 (this is just a month before the end of the war) the Confederate congress did pass a law that allowed black slaves to serve in the military, but it required that the slaves be freed with the consent of their masters, which wasn’t something slave owners were willing to do.
Also, Kid Rock still sucks.
Don't like kid rock, an I don't believe the flag should be owned by anyone person I believe the flag should be only used in historically accurate places like battle fields and civil war memorials/ cemetery's and museums not sold at Walmart or put on clothing.
