Had a fun idea for a Duckatles AU earlier after watching a mini marathon yesterday. And by fun I mean angsty.
History basically repeats itself.
Dewey and Webby grew up, got married, had 2 kids, and became explorers. On one expedition, they leave the kids with their reliable Uncle Huey.
However, when it’s over, Webby is the only one who comes back.
Dewey gets lost in some magical void and they don’t know how to get him out. He sacrificed himself for Webby.
She’s distraught and swears off adventuring.
Louie, having had feelings for Webby forever despite her relationship with his brother, steps up to care for the family finamcially. He actually asks Webby to marry him and she says yes out of need for the security and comfort. But in the aftermath, he gets so busy that he’s never around, much like Scrooge when he stopped adventuring and before the kids came.
She actually stays married to him for a while. She’d had 2 kids with Dewey, a boy and a girl. The girl is older, and at one point when she’s like 7 she had a huge falling out with Louie.
Louie: You obey my rules under my house!
Girl: You may be married to mom, but you’ll NEVER be my dad!!
Eventually Webby does divorce him, and the fam moves from Duckberg. Webby, now on her feet, practices law and isn’t home a lot. Huey moves in with them to watch out for them in that Launchpad/Beakly/Donald role. He’s the structured, organized one who’s an amazing cook! They still call him Uncle Huey, and he has a purely platonic relationship with Webby.
Webby’s not like her old self at this point. Her kids: the girl is like 13, the boy is 10. They have their parents’ spirit and skill! The girl loved the idea of adventures when she was younger, but grew out of it as it was surpressed. (She used to get scolded for asking questions about the family, except from Huey. But still). She has the best skills. The boy loves adventure and thrill seeking too, but he’s actually afraid to try most things! Like, he gets really scared and nervous, so he looks up to his sister. He’s not as adept as her physically, but he’s very cunning!!
One day, they come across an old picture of Webby, Huey, Dewey, and Louie when they were kids adventuring with Donald, Scrooge, and Beakly. They ask Uncle Huey who, without Webby knowing, tells then about their Great Uncle Donald and Great Great Uncle Scrooge (still alive BTW!)
They meet Scrooge first, and history begins to repeat itself as they wind up having to look for their dad.
But it’s harder on Scrooge and Webby. Scrooge, because this is Della and the Spear of Selene all over again. Webby, because she’s tried to close off that part of herself and she doesn’t want herself, or her kids, to reconnect with it.
It gets more complicated because Louie still has feelings for Webby.
But when we get to the series finale, and they find Dewey, he has to come to terms with the fact that Webby never loved him the way she loved his brother, and was never really his.
But in the midst of the show it’d get really conflicted because of all the swirling emotions involved.
PS: Donald, of course, is in this too. And, surprisingly, he’s more emotionally prepared to search for Dewey than he was for Della. He and Huey drive the kids crazy with how overprotective they are though!
But yeah! There would be much drama filled angsty-ness for a new generation!
PSS: It gets fun as the kids learn things about the adults they never knew.
So maybe at one point, Webby gets captured and Huey is like, “You need to pull a Louie!!!”
And Louie is like, “What?! I haven’t done that since college!” (But he has because that’s part of how he’s so good at dealing to make money). And he looks at the kids,
“Remember, you should always tell the truth and NEVER do this…” and he lies and fakes it like a pro to trick whoever has kidnapped Webby and the kids are like, “Whaaaa–???? Strict Uncle Louie can lie like a weasel????” Lol! 😂
And they learn he’s horrible at reading maps, “Captain Lost!!!” 😂😂
And of course they learn how epic their mom is!! 😉
But when they do find Dewey, it hurts because for him, only like a few minutes has passed since he last saw Webby, his ducklings, and the family. But for everyone else, it’s been almost a decade.
But yeah, much feels to be had!!
