For #inktober2016 I'm exploring my illustration DNA. The things I remember from childhood. Like my pop-up book of gnomes. I was convinced a whole secret world was hidden I the gutter of books. #inktober #illustration #kidlitart

#inktober posting catch up. No particular order. I would like to do more like that last one. Might be how I spend the evening.
#scbwidrawthis finished just under the wire!
SVSlearn.com’s 3rd Thursday prompt. I tried going black and white and digital. While I like the black and white, I think it would have been fun to have color on the foreign planet. Digital...yeah I think I’m done. I use digital techniques to comp my work, but I don’t like painting digitally as much as I like painting with paint.
So many color studies! I've never struggled this much with a palette. I'm going to do a color script for this book the way I would with a film.
SVS third Thursday. "Emma was excited to spend a week at the cottage until..."
Adventure! I thought they were pretty adventurous Acorn sprites.
I am Oz, great and powerful!
Late night sketches.
Final assignment for the mentorship I’m doing. The Birds of Oz make it out of the woods and see the Emerald City.
I see this guy regularly on my commute. He has such a fantastic look, like an extra from a movie set in the 80s. Love his style, maybe one day I'll get a chance to tell him that.
WIP for Birds of Oz.
Expansion on the color studies. Doing some watercolor tests too.
Color study
Finished! "As he drifted away, it began to rain." Song of the Sea inspired me to return to things I was playing with in my 2012 film, Lantern. I'm particularly thankful to Song of the Sea for the idea of trying white lines instead of black. I think the results are interesting, don't you?
Explorations continue with value and more character studies.
Finally got a chance to paint a bit today! The project continues at a glacial pace.
