Since additional time was added and I had indicated that I would only participate in one application (because I didn't have enough time)

Could I use this additional time to apply for another position if I already selected that option on the form?

And if it's not too intrusive to ask, how many candidates of each type have applied until now?

Yes, you can. We will consider the most recent answer as the current preference.

We won't disclose this type of information, but we will be very happy to see more people apply for this zine!

hello! Sorry for the potential double ask; wasn’t sure if here or the revospring was a better place to ask, but I wanted to clarify if the word count for fics in the writer portfolio is 1-3k per the info doc or 1-5k per the how-to doc? Just wanted to make sure before I submit my application!

We apologize for this inconvenience and mistake on our part. The actual maximum word count is 3k words for the fics in the writer portfolio.

However, since this was an overview on our site and writers have already applied under the assumption of 5k words as the maximum, we won't persecute people who have already sent in their application.

If one art is used in more than one product mockup, does it still count as a single merch design or multiple?

If you produced the same design as a sticker and a charm, we will view it a single design due to the similarities. So generally speaking, having multiple unique designs would be preferable. But you are still welcome to include the design used in different ways to show your versatility across different items you want to apply for.

I saw in the merch list the word charm

Does charm mean an acrylic keychain?

Or any type of keychain?

An explanation / photo of what you ment would be appriciated

In our Info Document we mention Charms with 2.5 inches/6.35 centimeters and phone charms with 1.5 inches/3.81 centimeters. We won't do specialty charms, like charms with shakers.

Formally speaking, the charm alone (not the phone charm) is a keychain.

Does the art need to be vector art?

Or is the right size canvas for the merch or illustration enough?

My most commonly used app is procreate wich doesnt have vector

But I can try another if needed

Vector isn't required for any illustration. As long as you have the canvas at the correct size (for this zine we use A5 format) you should be fine.

There is only specifics for the spot artist (it says spot artists cmyk and 300 dpi size and format may vary)

But nothing for the rest of the art roles

So Im confused what other artists are supposed to do

In our Info Document we have specific expectations listed for all artist roles. There is a list for how the applications are supposed to look like (Contributor Application Guidelines) and what they have to create (Contributor Guidelines).

For Spot Artists, the specifics are more complicants/dependent on what the artist wants to do or what works with the story of the writer, since they create art that accompanies the story of a writer. For this zine, Spot artists can create anything (full size illustration, banner, chibis, coloured pages etc.) as long as it fits on one page.

If you aren't entirely sure on what the different artist roles do, then you can read up on them in the How-To Document and ask more questions afterwards.

For merch protfolio do you need to show background and full illustration skills too?

For merch protfolio do you need to show background and full illustration skills too?

(I have expiriance making merch for conventions like keychains and stickers and posters

but my backgrounds are still weaker so I wanted to check if they are required for merch protfolio)

This depends. If you want to do merch items that have backgrounds (e.g. prints, photocards, wallpapers, and the bookmark could fall into this category) then yes, you should show us your ability to draw backgrounds. Otherwise, the more important thing for the merch portfolio is the design silhouette for your preferred merch items, like keychains.
