Process

(Not really thoughts bc I did it so long ago i forgor.)

^the drafts were fun to do, but then I had the hardest time rendering - cuz imma be honest here, I had no idea how to render at all back then. I was trying to make it iridescent without making it over-saturated, so I referenced a lot of Chinese artists (like rei_17). However, it ended up being very overwhelming for me to do, mostly bc I only knew the rules of thumb of rendering was to “refine until you couldn’t”, but that effectively made every painting a pain in the ass to finish, since I am:

a perfectionist of sorts

really good at shaming myself into doing things I don’t feel like doing and

a serial procrastinator (see 1.)

After some time of procrastinating, negotiating and feet-dragging I finally remembered oh yes, when in doubt i do color studies. I guess:

These studies gave me a direction to push where to render, sort of. Basically I only have to focus on the well-lit parts, but it still took forever because I was rendering all over the place with no sense of priority. So I just pushed on and on and on and

… at least the end result was alright. But I had the biggest art block immediately after finishing this set, bc lowkey I didn’t want to go through that again. Even looking at this set makes me feel a little queasy bc of the process was very unpleasant lol

Highway Star truly was the arc that made me fall in love with JosuHan

Josuke and Rohan fighting and disliking one another since they met to later RISKING THEIR LIFE to save each other is just mwah! cheffs kiss, of course Rohan didn't SAVE Josuke because he likes him, he did it because he knows it's the right thing to do (and to spite HS obviously) however...

Both of them were clearly moved by the others actions, it's so clear, despite their feud they still wanna team up to defeat a common enemy, they still wanna help one another, they matched each others wavelengths at that moment and saw a part on each other they didn't see before, they were willing to risk their life to save on another despite their torn ''relationship''.

It's so funny that highway star even mocks the idea of them being lovers (yes, in Japanese he did imply a romantic connotation).

And despite everything Josuke still wanted to befriend him, to start again, but unfortunately Rohans pride is big and he was still mad about Josuke trying to scam him (rightfully so).

The whole scene was so soft then Rohan ruined it (made it more fun)

Even Jotaro had to witness these two brats bickering about it, it was very shippy coded not gonna lie, david pro did that on purpose for sure.

And this is where i saw the potential of them becoming something more in the future, i can't see them dating right away, they'd have to experience an ''enemies'' to lovers slow burn that could last a couple of years until they finally accept their feelings.
