Had so much fun practicing my braiding techniques yesterday. This is a distressed rope braid on both sides with a half knot.

So this weekend I got to attend the 2015 PBA Beacon Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada. Basically it allowed selected students to meet and network with huge names like Ted Gibson, Eden Sassoon, Vivienne Mackinder, as well as many others! Needless to say it was a once in a lifetime opportunity!! I have a short clip of the NAHA fashion show for you guys.. Of course it’s the Aveda portion #represent enjoy!!

Formulating in periwinkle

Master’s photo shoot has come and gone and here are some behind the scenes pictures of the results!! Formulated with Aveda pastel color & of course I had a pretty great base to start with! It’s all about getting your guest to that bright blonde base before pasteling the hair.

So did you just use the pastel B and make it a super strong formula? Or did you add some light b/b in there too to get that really blue colour. In my experience with aveda colour pastel B is never as strong as I like it to be when formulating pastels, but maybe I’m not adding enough.

I can’t remember the exact formulation- though I believe it was mostly light b/b, a little pastel B and of course some 0N was involved. Her hair was more porous so the color took more of a true blue instead of pastel. At that point we did about a 15 second hot water cleanse and was able to get it where we wanted it!

Updo central. prom season has arrived! & with it- it has brought lots of hairspray, bobby pins and Pinterest! For some here at Aveda this day was one that made some stylist want to crawl in a little hole, and for others (like myself) jump for joy!! With all of it's excitement and anticipation it leaves one a bit tired at the end of the day. Nevertheless thrilling :)

Density city. I was fortunate enough to work a mini photo shoot with this lovely lady- as you can see she has plenty enough hair! On her I did a round brush hard set and fun hair flip :) if you don't have a round brush you should get one! They do wonderful things.

I'm going to take a minute to be sappy and say that I'm so incredibly thankful that Aveda gives us opportunities like catwalk for water to help fight for clean water in TN by doing editorial/fashion work. That's my definition of a good day. Aveda allows us not only to do what we love but to do it and make a difference. Guys, this is a game changer. (Dress & makeup by Lindsay)
