Do You Like Eating Yoga Mats?
For those of you Wawa lovers out there...you might be surprised to hear that Wawa bread currently includes the ingredient azodicarbonamide, which is also found in yoga mats and shoe soles, to name a few things. As rowers (and generally healthy human beings) we try to watch what we put into our bodies, and last time I checked no one PRed on their 2k by eating yoga mats (and if you did, kudos...I guess?). I'm not going to lie, I generally don't (and by "generally don't" I mean "I never") look up the ingredients in my fast food, but my sister, who is a Wellness Coordinator in the Philly area, does. In light of the recent Subway scandal, in which they agreed to remove azodicarbonamide from their bread products, my sister did a little digging and found that Wawa bread has the same chemical in it. She started a petition in hopes of achieving the same thing, and surprisingly not too many people have signed it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some Wawa, but I would prefer to eat it without a side of guilt/cancer, and I'm sure you East Coasters out there would agree. You guys never fail to stand up and act for a good cause, and I think this is a great one. These lax food standards don't apply in other countries, and I think it's time for Americans to stop sitting idly by and stuffing our bodies full of chemicals. To do your good deed for the day, visit this site to sign the petition! https://www.change.org/petitions/wawa-remove-azodicarbonamide-from-wawa-breads The site does ask for your address, but if you want to really stick it to Wawa you can put your local Wawa address in place of your own.
You guys rock...I hope everyone is psyched to get back on the water soon! Have some fun for me please!
