No vegans, I assure you, if you cut up a human to see what they’re made of it looks far more like the plate on the right than the plate on the left, no matter how much of the latter the person in question has eaten. I am made of meat, because I have eaten meat. You are made of meat, because you have eaten veggies. There is a major flaw in your key statement.

No, you were not meant to eat animals because your digestive system is not made for it; this is why omnivores have five million health problems like heart disease and high cholesterol. So, yes, you are what you eat — because your health reflects your diet. It does not mean your insides turn into blueberries.

Because while I have nothing but respect for folks who choose a vegan diet, there are some among your number who feel the need to call me Bloodmouth Murderguts Graveyardstomach, which leaves me no recourse but to point and laugh.

One more place where “If they were right, they wouldn’t need to lie” applies.
Humans bodies are made to be omnivorous. Our teeth and digestions are parallel to pretty much every other omnivorous species out there. Why the fuck does anyone believe otherwise?
I don’t care what diet anybody chooses. Be vegan if you want, or vegetarian, or whatever. But arguments like “Humans can’t digest meat!” (yes, we fucking can; I do it about four days a week) and “Dairy isn’t natural as a food for humans because lots of people can’t digest lactose” (not all dairy contains lactose — goat and sheep do not — and some people CAN digest lactose, which makes dairy a perfectly natural food for us) are simply lies, easily disproven. Why the fuck do people keep making these claims? Do they think everyone is as ignorant and gullible as they are?
Also, by the way, killing bacteria and parasites in meatis the reason we developed cooking.That’s what it’s fuckingfor. So if you enjoy cooked food, thank omnivores.
Oh, and just a historical tidbit: salmonella didn’t occur in chicken eggs until sometime in the 20th century, and still doesn’t occur in the vast majority of eggs. In fact, raw eggs were a very traditional source of protein for elderly people who didn’t have enough teeth to chew meat effectively. They would literally suck the eggs from the shells. (The phrase “teach your grandmother to suck eggs” means “tell someone something they already know more about than you do”.)
Most chicken meat isn’t infect with salmonella bacteria when slaughtered, either. The reason so much of it reaches consumers infected is that it spreads so easily in processing plants. This is an effective criticism of the way meat is handled, but not so much of eating meat.
Trichinosis has also been eliminated from farmed animals in the US, Canada, and most of Europe. The few cases of trich infections each year generally come from wild game, which is often infected.
E. coli, meanwhile, is more often found in high-water-content vegetables than in meat.
I almost feel bad adding this to the post after Moni’s awesome responses, but I really despise this kind of lie. And there’s no fucking need for it.
Also, saying humans aren’t meant to drink milk because some people have lactose intolerance is just as easily turned to “people aren’t meant to eat soy because some people have legume allergy”. Or “people aren’t meant to eat grains because some poeple have celiac disease”… oh wait, that is the basis of that really stupid fad diet in the US.
Food is one of those things where some people just throw logic out the window.
