Rhett couldn’t help himself as he paused taking in Dia with their son for a moment until Cedric ran back to him. “Isn’t your mama just the most beautiful woman you’ve ever seen?” He asked their son as he knelt down in front of him in order to help him into his jacket. Once he was certain that the jacket was completely secure he stood back up in order to reach out for Claudia, “I think a little family walk is exactly what we need.”

She smiled to herself as she watched Cedric and Rhett, twisting the leash around her wrist loosely. It wasn’t really like he needed it, but better safe than sorry. “Yeah, that was the plan, right?” Dia asked with a small laugh as she took Rhett’s hand. “I think Oscar might revolt if we didn’t take him on one.”

“Come on Cedric,” Rhett called out to his son. It had been four years and that thought still stole his breath away. He had a son. He had Claudia. It wasn’t something that he got over easily. He knew how lucky he was to have the life that he did, “Don’t forget your jacket!”

Dia had just finished putting on Oscar’s leash, and she let out a sigh as her son ran past her. “Cedric.” She did her best to keep her voice stern, dropping the least at her feet as she knelt by him. “C’mon, we talked about this.” It was almost terrifying to think that everything she’d been told was true. He really was growing up too fast. “You’ve gotta put your coat on for daddy, okay? Thank you.” Dia kissed his head as he ran back towards Rhett and she reached for the dog again.

Gemma was grateful for a break. She had pushed through the entire summer semester to try to be able to graduate in the spring but now she finally was able to step away from school. “I need a few more days of this,” she mumbled enjoying the last of her coffee.

“Yeah, you and me both.” Dia admitted with a small laugh, wrapping her hands around her coffee. She knew how lucky she was to be in school at all, but it was nice to have some time off. Especially with Cedric. “How did it all go?”

“I just don’t want to overstep, you know? Or upset her. But I want to tell them to her so she has more stories about him. She deserves to know the amazing man she raised even if it’s only through stories. I also have some about you and V I could tell her,” Gemma reminded her happily to give her mom all the happy stories that she had. “You absolutely deserve everything you have, little dove. It may not have been perfect or the way you would want, but you deserve the happiness it’s given you.”

“You knew him better than I did, Gem. If anything, you’d be the right perfect to tell her stories about him. If god forbid I ever lost time with Cedric I’d want someone to tell me everything. Don’t tell her mine though, I was embarrassing and awkward my entire life.” Dia shuddered dramatically at the thought. “I know. It took me a really long time to get there but I’m...really happy I got what I did.”

“You weren’t, but you were still what I need even then and I knew it,” He didn’t believe in love at first sight until he had met her. But he knew instantly she was exactly who he would need.

“I know.” Dia admitted with a small laugh. “I think that’s the one thing in my life other than Victoria that I never questioned.”

“It’s not stupid, but I promise that I know,” Rhett assured her as he pulled her tightly to him, “Maybe not at first, but I know now how you feel about me.”

“To be fair, I wasn’t in the best shape when we first met.” Dia reminded him, resting her head against his shoulder.

“I doubt that she would, but she has you and Victoria to worry about. I don’t want to take away from any of it even if I want to tell her all of my Aaron stories,” Gemma admitted tugging at her shirt nervously, “He came into your life at the right time. Life knew what you needed.”

“I still don’t think she would mind. If anything, she would probably want to hear your stories about Aaron. It isn’t like I have many to give her.” Dia promised quietly. “Yeah, he did. Being pregnant at sixteen was definitely not...great, but I’ve gotten so much from him. And from Rhett. I don’t know that I deserve either of them.”

“it isn’t, but it makes me feel cooler saying that’s what’s happening.”

“Right, okay.” Dia laughed, shaking her head. “I guess we can go with that, then.”

“I promise you I am very real, but I’m not going to say no to spending time with you as much as I can,” He assured her unable to stop himself as he reached out running a hand through her hair.

“H-Have you seen Victoria? Or mom?” Dia asked, hiccuping as she tried to catch her breath. “Do they know you’re back?”

“You don’t have to let go, not for a moment if it’s not what you want,” Stiles assured her knowing he wouldn’t want to let her or Victoria go. He had so many questions but he had to pace himself. “I just want to keep you to myself for awhile, baby girl.”

Dia hiccuped and nodded. “I-I gotta...I’ve gotta make sure Kaiden can keep Cedric,” she muttered. Even if she knew her brother in law wouldn’t mind, she had to take care of her son no matter how badly she didn’t want to let go of her dad. “Just in case you’re not real I don’t want it going away.”

“I think we can cure it though I’m selfish enough to kidnap you.”

“Does it still count as kidnapping if I’m agreeing to go willingly?”

“It’s not stuck if it’s all I ever wanted,” Gemma reminded her sister as she sighed slightly to herself, “I’m honestly proud I haven’t wrapped myself around your mother yet. I’ve debated about it, but I haven’t. And I can’t imagine not being around to watch you grow as a mother and woman.”

“If you glued yourself to my mother, I don’t think she would complain. You’re family to her forever, even if she wasn’t here to see you with Aaron.” She promised, shrugging her shoulders. “Honestly, sometimes it amazes me how far I’ve come. If it wasn’t for Cedric I’m not sure I would have and half the time it still feels like I’m not enough.”

Rhett pulled her in to him in order to press a warm kiss to her lips, “I do know that. I never questioned it, Dia.”

“I worry sometimes that I don’t say it enough. Which I know is really stupid, I just...can’t help it sometimes.”

“Come here,” He couldn’t hold off any longer before pulling her into his arms and holding her as tightly as he could, “I’m happy to see you too, little one. I missed you more than you could imagine.”

Dia had thought she was over the heightened emotions of her parents after having three years with Allison, but everything came flooding back and she couldn’t stop crying. She grasped onto her dad tightly and shut her eyes, trying to believe he was really alive. “I think I might have some idea,” she whispered, “I don’t want to let go.”

“I know he would, I would have wanted the same for him if things were different,” It was never something that she questioned. It wasn’t as if Dia or even their mother allowed her to question it any way. “I know you are. Having your family still in my life means the entire world to me. Living in a world without him is hard enough, but I can’t imagine surviving life without a single Stilinski in my life.”

“Yeah, I made sure to lock you into the family for life with the whole godmother thing,” Dia laughed quietly. It was hard to remember she had at one point almost been afraid of Gemma, and it was equally as painful to think it took losing her brother to change that but she couldn’t imagine life without her. “And now that Cedric is getting sentient enough to remember things, you’re kinda stuck with us.”

“Th-that’s something at least. How are you?”

Dia felt her eyes stinging. She couldn’t believe he really was right in front of her after so much time, even if her mother was back. “I-I’m good.” She managed with a shaky smile, fighting the urge to run into his arms. “Daddy, I’m so happy to see you.”
