And just in time for his birthday gift to him from us all, welcome to our very first Jaydick week event!

All NSFW works must be bottom Dick only! Content involving Sub!Top Jason and Dom!Bottom Dick is accepted if tagged clearly. Works containing Bottom Jason will not will not be accepted.

Both fics and artworks are welcome in this collection! Write and draw to your heart's content!

No work is too small, we'll accept everything from drabbles to sketches.

No plagiarism, tracing, or reposting of other people's artworks or fanfictions. Anything created with AI is not welcome in this event

anon complaining about your art being ooc for both dick and jay and that you centre dick more is nearly the opposite of how i usually feel about jaydick where it's usually centred on jay and dick's just there

both sides exist and dick and jay are both super popular so there are bound to be people who think differently about their dynamic and have different ideas about jaydick as a ship

it's an odd choice of that anon to complain about a fan artist's depiction of a ship that is fan content being drawn for free out of passion (and isn't hateful or disrespectful) when vast amounts of jaydick or jay content exists that presents a different dynamic and characterization that might be more to anon's liking

I’ve noticed that quite a few people like to be loud about what they don’t like, to the point it’s not anymore a “complaining in general about a topic”, but it has become an actual harassment to specific creators. Like some months ago I saw people public naming (and shaming) a famous Tim author that wrote a lot of whump Tim Fic with Protective Jason, but like, fuck off. You can complain about a character being too influenced by fanon, but going on social media and saying “person x” is horrible, is straight hate and bullying. The person literally spent their free time for content, it’s fan-work god damn it. And this is coming from someone that doesn’t even enjoy Jay with Tim, but it’s fucking common sense!

Another example is - I don’t like Dark dick, I say on my profile often how much I don’t like it, but you’ll never see my saying “THIS person do a terrible portray of Dick” “she’s the reason of all the bad characterisations of Dick” and lead my followers to harass this person, that’s fucked up.

There is the block button.

And as you said lately dc is super popular, they can block me and they’ll find an insane amount of incredible artists that draw the same couple but with opposite dynamic…

Day 3. Jason kidnaps Dick

Just read that post the anon put about your Jason portrayal, and oh buddy, do I have some bad news for you. People are allowed to interpret characters and their personalities/dynamics with other charas COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY from how you see them. If an artist's portrayal doesn't match how you see a character, it's not the end of the world. But if it really bothers you that much, then just don't interact with it?? Some people blow my mind fr its like they don't know people are allowed their own thoughts on *fictional characters*

Never stop creating just because your work doesn't line up exactly to someone else's specifications

Yuppp also lately the portray I do of Jason isn’t popular at all, so I don’t get why they took it so personal, a random Didi in the wild drawing jaydick won’t change the state of the world you know, I don’t have that influence, I don’t think I have influence in the fandom neither lol.

They (and 3 other loud people) are really on a mission to make sure that the only way Jason is portrayed is in a certain way uh

that anon is so out of line for trying to police your work like that omg, that’s the kind of complaining you should keep private anon, like I can kinda see the logic if the character being “misrepresented” has like zero content so the mischaracterization and one-sided shipping takes over their tag (look at me vaguing), but this is Jason fucking Todd

I’m gonna stop drawing vulnerable or crying Jason so they’ll feel they’re right, but also yeah

Jason has like 18838483 new content everyday, he’s the current favourite of the fandom, those kind of people really want to cancel any creators that focus on a different portray of him, as a top or as the one “giving affection” for example…

You say you like jaydick, and I get that Dick is your favorite character, but most of the time it feels like you only use Jason as some kind of boyfriend prop for Dick.

Like, other than being a cock for Dick to sit on, Jason isn’t anything else in your art. Just an accessory, like he doesn’t even have a life (not to mention a personality) outside of Dick. Idk that’s honestly the vibe your art gives me. It feels like Dick is the only character you care about developing, while Jason is just an object there to decorate his narrative.

I know you’re probably going to take this as hate, but I genuinely don’t understand why you draw jaydick when it’s obvious you don’t actually like Jason beyond using him as an accessory for Dick.

And it’s not just your Jason drawings that feel OOC, Dick feels OOC too, because you make him seem like some helpless whore who constantly needs protection.

Let me tell you a secret and also an advice anon, I feel the same with some people draw or write dickjay. 

 BUT I don’t send them anonymous ask, because I know it can happen in fandom, you have a fav and the other one is uh, there.

For me it better to vague complain about it in socials (if you feel private conversations aren’t enough), than sending them messages hidden as anon with criticism, you know, fandom etiquette :-)

Now about the criticism, yup I explore more Dick’s character, but I also think you have may look at my art too superficially, I have drawn them for two years: nsfw, sfw, comics, animations and if you feel that in my 500+ artworks there is nothing focused on Jason, then, maybe, you’re looking for a particular Jason Todd that I don’t portray, but that you’re a fan of. 

I played a lot with his vulnerabilities, also for special projects like zines. 

Plus I also thinks Dick is a really important character in Jason’s life, so doing art about how Jason feel about Dick is also exploring his character. 

But not every artworks need to be thoughtful or have a deep meaning, sometimes it’s just me and practising art you know? 

Now, for me Dick’s character is extreeeemely competent, hypercompetent, and I hate when in comics he’s portrayed as an himbo. 

But it’s also canon that this extremely competent man often finds himself in situations where he’s rescued, bridal carried, hugged, taken care of, (despite him, stubborn, still risks his life to the max).

You can find even a thread of comics panels where Dick and some villains explore bond4g3 kinks (let’s describe it like that lol).

So yes, I like to focus a lot on those situations when I make art, but let’s be honest,  isn’t the tag - #whump or #hurt + (name of the character you like )- super common between fans?

Sometimes I’m not skilled enough to put in a singular artwork how fucking complex Dick character is. Sometimes I just prefer to show a particular aspect of the relationship, do you wanna police my free art and free time?

This isn’t the first time that I heard someone receiving hate (in this case me and in this case criticism) about Jason’s portray in fan - creations , you and some others  really want a particular image of him and you’re gonna hate FAN works that don’t focus or portray that. 

I’ve seen friends stopping creating about him due to this, but prob you would be happy about it…

As an artist who had kinda a big profile but abandoned it cuz my proshipper alt felt immensely more freeing without all the antis, you’re so right

The fact is that the moment you post an artwork that they decide is problematic, even for the smallest age gap between adults or a maybe for a ship (that they hate and want to cancel it), they’ll tear your account apart, threatening and harassing you. There’s no real support in antis community.

But also I understand people who live with art, commissions, patreons etc and prefer to stay quiet to avoid backlash.

In that case I only suggest to not hide as anti and harass other creators just to be like them, it’s stupid and it never ends well btw.

I drew Dick with a skirt for the bunnywing event and I loved it, he should wear skirts in the comics, maybe not practical for the nightwing suit but for everyday life? He would rock it

I can't tell anyone I know that some of the ships I like are BruDick, JayDick etc. cause I know I'd be slaughtered on the spot for them being 'problematic ships'. So I really love the fact that I've had you (along with people I've found through your reblogs) putting out content and just talking about them like its no big deal. You really helped me feel not so alone. Anyway, keep up the amazing work <3

Oooh I get you, that’s the reason why I don’t share basically anything personal (despite wanting to), people treat fictional characters as real people and real people as fictional characters, and it’s fucked up.

Also the reason why I got better at drawing is jaydick, that has been my muse for the past 2 years. I went from drawing floating heads to draw full bodies with backgrounds. Sometimes I think if I had a general account with no ships that are considered problematic, maybe I would have more followers, I would go to cons without worrying of someone chronically online being dramatic, but then It would just be sad, letting people decide what you can draw or not. I wonder how many artists are out there with big profiles, scared of posting contents because of antis.

Plus the jaydick community is really amazing, and people in GGH are a lovely lovely company for streams❤️💙

How did you get into Jaydick as a ship originally?

The red and blue dynamic helped! Also when I started posting art on Twitter in 2024 shortly before the jaydick week, I focused on that and I met a lot of jaydick friends, so I went from drawing brudick and jaydick to focusing on Dick and Jason only. But overall I love their dynamic a lot❤️ especially as Redhood and Nightwing.

What's currently your favorite thing to draw for JayDick art? Could be a pose, expression, setting, dynamic, color palette, vibe, anything

mmm I like poses when it seems like they are dancing together, but also the palette, blue and red, using black for their hair but changing the color to blue or red for the highlights, their eyes color…

trying to work on their expressions lately, I wanna add more tension to my artworks
