GUESS WHAT BITCH REMEMBERED THE PASSWORD
mnestics:
“you. are. not. crazy,” Chromedome emphasized firmly. “out of everything that we’ve been through this has been.. the wildest but not completely far fetched.” Feeling Rewind’s hands against his own felt so secure. He wanted to stay like this at least, reassuring his conjunx and keeping him safe– he wanted this for another few years. No nightmares, no fear, just a indefinite tranquility.
“I don’t remember anything. I had no memories– at least none that I can recall. It’s weird when I disappeared.. it was peaceful I wasn’t scared but I had no memories of the other me.” Chromedome replied slowly, his mind trying to maul over anything that could be something of what Rewind was mentioning. However, the only thing that was vivid was going outside the ship to find Rewind sitting underneath the stars that they use to map together. “I.. don’t think you mentioned.. what happ– nevermind..” he immediately regretted bringing it up.
Rewind tensed, his hands squeezing Chromedome’s own as his visor dimmed. Shifting to press his face against his conjunx’s shoulder, he prayed he hadn’t noticed. “He made me watch.” His voice cracked, and Rewind shuddered. “I-I recorded it. All of it. One of them- one of them held me down ‘cause I kept trying to get to you.”
A pause, and he pressed ever closer against Chromedome, pressing as much of their frames together as possible. “I- the other me- was calling out for you. I-he was so scared. When- when the pod was destroyed, he...” Rewind tightened his grip, ever so slightly. “He was thankful.”
“...I love you, Domey.”
*stops* I guess I'm not leaving just yet. ...I've already spoken to Chromedome.
“You did? What did he say?”
Rewind, please... you're hurting me. But if you're not ready, I can wait... perhaps come back another time? *small smile under his mustache*
“I-I thought you were dead. Dominus- why?” A pause. “Don’t go.”
I didn't mean to offend you. And yes, I am his only brother... *disappointed sigh* Must I really say my name for you?
“You’re dead. Dommy’s dead. Who are you?”
I think you're getting a little slow. Are there too many recordings in that handsome little head of yours? Of course I said brother.
“I’m not slow! And he only had one brother that I’m aware of.”
You've spent too much time with your mnemosurgeon friend. And my brother has used contractions. Rarely, of course, but I have heard him use them.
“He’s my conjunx. Of course I spend a lot of- did you say brother?”
Oh, come now, Rewind. Don't tell me you don't recognize me. Even my brother had gotten this one right.
“Not sure if you’ve noticed, but I can’t really see your face or hear your voice. You’re using contractions, so that rules out Magnus.”
Good. That's a much better reaction than Minimus had when I showed up. ;)
“And who are you, exactly?”
So... if you found out that SOMEHOW Dominus was still alive, what would be the first thing you'd say and/or do?
“I-I don’t know. Hug him, maybe.”
mnestics:
Chromedome made a small huff, his head lightly bumping against Rewind’s. He would gladly be the idiot. It was a small relief to hear yet he still couldn’t fully rid himself of the thought of being responsible. He conjured hundreds of ways he could have avoided everything to save Rewind.. the old Rewind. He said nothing else, his shoulders tensed up a little to try and give some awkward signal to his conjunx that he was right. Maybe. Instead, Chromedome hummed, sounding not like an agreement but just defeat. “At least be mad at me.. a little.” Chromedome mumbled with a forced chuckle. Nonetheless it felt good to talk this over. For him but Rewind was still shaky.
His hand rested behind Rewind’s waist, trying in some ways to ease the shaking but ultimate just wanting to touch him. “I won’t..” Chromedome replied. Primus, he’ll try.
“Weird? What do you mean?” He moved his hand back a little, regrettably breaking away from the nuzzle. “I thought you knew what happened.. on the ship? One by one we were disappearing–” he paused in thought as he tried to remember what happened, “I don’t remember. Unless you mean something else?” He tried not to sound too frantic.
“There’s nothing to me mad at you for.” Rewind forced himself to relax, to lounge against Chromedome like nothing was wrong. His digits drummed lightly over Chromedome’s chest. “I mean, unless you want me to be mad at you for not snuggling with me enough. But that’s easy to make up.” Voice taking on a teasing tone, he chuckled, before falling silent again.
Reaching for the hand on his waist, Rewind hesitated for a moment, before taking it in his own. It had never stopped amazing him, how much smaller he was than Chromedome.
Right. Rewind sighed, shifting to press his face against Chromedome’s shoulder as though hiding it. “I mean, like... nightmares. For things you weren’t there for. I mean, you were there, but it was the other you. Like the other Rewind.” He paused, giving a halfhearted laugh. “Primus, I sound crazy.”
instead of going to sleep at a reasonable time last night I made this
chrcomedome:
Chromedome titled his head away from Rewind, guilt eating him inside his chest as Rewind spoke. “I know..” he muttered back in defeat. He really had nothing to comeback on that promise. There shouldn’t have been a real reason besides selfishness. He promised Rewind so many times and broken those promises many times more.
He waited until Rewind was on his lap to wrap his arms around him. Embracing him to try and stop Rewind’s shaking. A part of him what Rewind to get angry instead of thanking him for telling him everything. He pictured it differently in his mind. There was some sort of relief that filled him at least.
Chromedome kept his head on Rewind’s shoulder, his visor rubbing against the cool metal of his conjunx, “You’re shaking. I said everything now but I want you to tell me how you feel. I know you’re disappointed at least .. just tell me.” Chromedome’s voice strained with urgency yet the complying patience he often had whenever he wanted something from Rewind.
“I’m listening,” Chromedome answered at Rewind’s request.
“It’s okay.” Rewind sighed, sagging in Chromedome’s arms. “Don’t- don’t blame yourself.” A pause, and a hint of a smile tugged at his voice. “You’re an idiot, but you’re my idiot.”
He was just stalling. Both of his arms wrapped around one of Chromedome’s. It was safe here, and it was warm. Nothing would happen here. His shivering wouldn’t stop, though. Why wouldn’t it stop? They were going to be okay.
“I think... I think you blame yourself too much. You’re not the only one who- who had something to do with it. Prowl did. Brainstorm did.” Rewind shifted to press his mask ever-so-gently against Chromedome’s. His tone was soft, and he sighed. “Don’t blame yourself.”
Rewind’s grip tightened again, fingers digging into the metal of his conjunx’s arm. “Did- did anything weird happen right before you found me? Something- something weird is happening. To me. Did anything happen to- to you?”
chrcomedome:
He had restless nights about this conversation and all of them ending with Rewind walking away from him. Probably to never speak to him again. His brain would conquer the worst. He didn’t want to talk about it but Rewind wanted to know. Chromedome remained silent for a few more seconds, “Uh.. y-yeah okay.” He replied simply. His spark felt so light in his chest, moving with every kink his body would make and making him feel dizzy.
Second chance.. he had to remember that.
“There was … a project Prowl wanted me to do for him involving Overlord. He wanted to understand how six phrasers were made– “ regardless of either universe he was sure that part existed but without Rewind ever knowing. Chromedome never told him of the project which ultimate resulted in his death. “For a few nights I read his memories, cycling through him and doing reports on what I found with Brainstorm .. at least what was useful. Until.. I stopped reporting. I don’t know why..it was a good idea maybe I was caught up and ..I don’t know I just felt in control. I knew what I was doing was wrong. I should have told the others just in case something went wrong but.. I lost control. Overlord escaped because of me..” Chromedome vented out, recalling the incident made him tense. “He.. escaped and went berserk on the ship and that’s… how Rewind found out..” He paused to watch Rewind’s expression.. his take on all that information. In the moment he felt he would be judged right then and now by everything. Everything that he tried to avoid he was going to face right this second.
“I know what I did was stupid,” Chromedome said hastily. He gently pulled Rewind’s hand closer to him. “You trusted me to tell you everything and I failed you even in that. You know what injecting does to me. I hurt you more.. you– he died because of me.”
He had noticed Chromedome shifting more than once when he was awake after nightmares; he hadn’t known why. Why should he? For all he knew, he’s woken Chromedome up with his thrashing and, on occasion, screaming. He could have simply been trying to get comfortable.
As Chromedome spoke, Rewind closed his optics, visor dimming as he did until it glowed a dull blue. Would Chromedome notice how his hands tightened at every mention of Overlord’s name? Behind his mask, he chewed his lip.
The mention of reading Overlord’s memories drew a frown behind his mask, and he scooted closer. “You promised you’d stop doing that.”
I thought you were dead!
His hands tightened again, and after a moment of hesitation, he scooted closer, in Chromedome’s lap now. His ventilations were ragged, and he trembled a little.
“Thank-” His voice caught, and he tightened his grip- hard enough now that part of him wondered about dents. “Thank you for telling me. B-but I have one more question.”
