The Morning After, Faye Dunaway, Beverly Hills Hotel, 1977 (Terry O’Neill)

‘I wanted to get a different kind of ‘Oscar’ picture - one to illustrate what the award meant to actors and actresses. Faye had won Best Actress for Network (1976) the previous night and I made her meet me at the Beverly Hills Hotel at 6.30am for this shoot. She hadn’t slept and the implications of a watershed event in her career were only just beginning to dawn on her. ‘The newspapers also headline Peter Finch’s posthumous Oscar for his performance inNetwork. Finch died of a heart attack on 14th January 1977. - Terry O’Neill
