Week 4 (July 9 to 12, 2018)
July 9, 2018 (Monday)
Today wasn’t a very eventful day. Our supervisor had a meeting in the morning so we were told that we could go to work much later than usual, when he’s already at the office. I then spent the morning in MCHS, visiting my old teachers and catching up with them. It was fun seeing them after several years! I really miss my high school so much. Anyway, when I was already driving on the way to work, while stuck in traffic, I received a text saying that we could just work from home instead for the rest of the day due to the typhoon. So I called up my mom and told her I’ll stay in Coffee Bean in Greenhills while waiting for her to pick up my siblings since I have work things to do. I just edited the photos that we shot last week and I’m kind of having a hard time due to the inconsistent lighting. I’ll focus on the editing more tomorrow and I hope I’ll finally be able to get it!
July 10, 2018 (Tuesday)
My lola woke me up today, asking me if I could go pick up my siblings today. I think she thought I didn’t have work, but I told her I did so I had to decline. Although when I went back upstairs to my room after talking to lola, I received a text from Sir Jay that he’s just going to send us our tasks through email for today since the typhoon is still here. Since my mom is also working from home for the day, I asked her if she wanted to go out and stay in a coffee shop and just work there. She agreed, so we went to Coffee Bean in Greenhills (again! Even the same long table where I stayed yesterday.) I was really excited because I rarely get to spend time with my mom now since I’ve been so busy with school. I then focused on editing the photos from last week and now, I’m more satisfied with the outcome of the photos. I just sent them to Sir Jay for approval, and I hope he likes them! After that, we’re down to the last few tasks for Mindfuse since we only have a few days left before we complete our hours for Internship. I’m most definitely going to miss Mindfuse but the 4 weeks we spend there would always be something I’m going to look back on.
July 11, 2018 (Wednesday)
I went straight to UPTC right after I finished my work yesterday and writing my journal entry for the day. It was an unexpected dinner date with two of my blockmates, Alice and Thea! We finally got the Frankie’s we’ve been craving for. We had so much fun catching up after weeks of not seeing each other due to our OJT. We even played in the parking lot as if we were grade schoolers before going home. Last night made me realize that my block has slowly turned into my comfort zone--where I can breathe and be myself completely. And although the night has come to an end, I’m definitely excited for the following weeks because we’re finally going to be back together. Anyway, today was uneventful at work. We just finished our last few tasks before we finally finish all our hours by tomorrow. At this point, I’m slowly starting to realize what I want my growing business to be when we finally make it into the real world after graduation. Initially, I said Mindfuse is everything I want C+B to be, but after 150+ hours, I realized that it’s not. But my goals are much clearer now, and I aim to get steps and steps closer to them during my last year of college. I’m down to the last day of my OJT tomorrow, and now I can’t wait to finally make it into the real world.
July 12, 2018 (Wednesday)
Today was our last day at Mindfuse. We finally finished rendering 160 hours of on-the-job training and it’s finally time for us to pack our things away and bring them back home. I made it a point to be earlier than usual today for that “just one last time” moment. Signing in at the lobby was also kind of sad because it’s going to be the last time the guards would call our attentions to log in. When I got inside the office, Sir Jay already had tasks set for us for the day, and honestly I was excited for them since digital typography has always been something I’ve been wanting to try. I was able to finish 6 studies and I’m glad Sir Jay liked them and I was able to finish it before the day ended. It was a little bit complicated to do due to the length of the words but I got through it! I’m also happy with the outcome. When Sir Jay returned our evaluation forms, he said that he was surprised how time just flew by and that we’re already done with our hours. It was a sad moment when we had to say goodbye to them, but Sir Jay said we’re welcome to visit anytime we want to.
Anyway, now that I have finished my internship, like I said yesterday, I’ve finally come to terms with what I want C+B Co. to be. I just want it to be a small, but established company. I don’t want to rent an entire floor for the company; I’m already happy with just one room aesthetically designed for a visual media company (complete with office tables, chairs, refrigerator, and of course, a studio). Moreover, I want C+B to invest on gadgets and other materials that will help us grow not just as designers, but as professionals as well. No money should be wasted on things that would be of no benefit to our company. I aim for clients that are fun to work with--clients that know how to appreciate art. I know that there will always be negative clients but I promise to see them as stepping stones for growth for us. I want us to never have dull days, and make every single work day as enjoyable as possible. Creative blocks will always be seen as time to relax and have fun, so that we could get back to work when we’re finally inspired again. Everything negative shall be seen as stepping stones and doors for growth. C+B Co. will not be fake, but will be as real as we can be. That’s only a few things I want for C+B Co. For now, we will work our way into the big world of the arts. I know this is just the beginning. We still have a long way to go and now I’m ready to face it all.
Internship has been an exciting experience. I can now say that I made the right choice when I wrote Bachelor of Applied Arts major in Visual Design over International Studies and Communication. I also made the right choice of staying instead of shifting.
Fourth year, I’m ready for you.
Chloe, signing off.
