My controversial opinion is that I'm ... Actually very much on Armand's side...

Armand killed Nicki - who was unstable, turned with an illness which is against the rules (why would a mental illness NOT count towards this?), and was this close to self destructing anyway. Not to mention Lestat actively stringing Armand along while still dating Nicki - yeah, he had no reason to be fond of him.

Armand sold Louis and Claudia out to the coven - and why not? Louis was fucking AWFUL to Armand. Louis essentially waltzed in, demanded to be forgiven for breaking coven rules, put the coven in danger and still expected to be protected by Armand, refused to join OR to leave when Armand gave him chance after chance, all the while stringing Armand along and refusing to give him any affection. For all we know, Madeleine telling Armand that Louis loved him might've been the first time he heard that. Why the fuck would he choose his shitty noncommittal boyfriend of a couple years over his entire life's work and 13 people he's known for roundabout 2 centuries? For all he knew if he left with Louis, Louis would just end up cheating on him and trapping him in a loveless marriage - WHICH HE DID!!!

And the decapitation thing? Armand was raised by Marius. He knows EXACTLY who Akasha is, and it's more than reasonable to assume that he either knows or senses that Lestat's music is waking her up, and he knows that it's a BAD IDEA because Marius would've 100% drilled that into his head. Of course he wants to stop the concert at all costs when Akasha can (and DOES, evidently) cause a goddamn cataclysm. I don't even think he thinks he's killing them for good! He probably knows Lestat, if not Louis, will survive that.

The only two things which are genuinely insane are taking credit for saving Louis and the 52 year long stalking campaign.

To the former I say if he didn't do that he'd be totally alone as soon as Louis executed his revenge plot. It's opportunistic and manipulative and toxic but he's no Magnus for it.

To the latter... Boohoo, whatever, it's hot. Daniel finds it hot. DM are the biggest case of freak 4 freak ever and whatever they do to each-other is just an elaborate foreplay that frankly isn't any of my business.

Has anyone gotten the Armand Told The Truth tattoo yet cause I'm genuinely considering it once the show ends.

I've been passively watching The Amazing Digital Circus for basically its entire runtime, not as a fan, but not exactly hate-watching like I have HH. In fact I was kinda rooting for it.

But oh Boy, do I have some opinions about the fact that the show that's sUpPoSeDlY about finding communal care and support in the face of a meaningless existence unceremoniously sidelined every single ensemble character in favor of the writer's asshole of a self-insert.

Only to then expect me to sympathize with said asshole self-insert because he Had A Sad Life and also Is Possibly Transfem BUT HOLD ON!!! Be sure to put a BIIIIIG caveat on that because the show didn't have the balls to actually confirm that last bit. No, instead we get vague hand waving in the form of a different character somehow apparently guessing out of thin air that that's what his "something personal" was (seriously, how did Ribbit know that's what he was talking about? It could've been about him being gay as easily as it could've been about him being a furry, for all she knew), and also a song written by a black artist about his daughter now performed by a white dude and applied to a character that has been shitty and abusive towards every woman (and NB person) in his vicinity. Class.

I'm sorry but it's 2026 and you're an indie studio. I'm really not interested in your vague allusions to queer characters - shit or get off the pot, you have plenty of authority to actually confirm this shit.

HELL YOU ENDED THE EPISODE TALKING ABOUT WHAT THE REAL-LIFE JAX WAS UP TO. How difficult would it have been to throw in a like about him using different pronouns or going by a different name?! You could've kept the aspect that Jax hadn't understood his identity AND canonized Leeroy as a trans woman without having to fucking confirm it on Twitter like this is goddamn Voltron.

(and even if they had confirmed this explicitly in the show I still wouldn't sympathize with that asshole because, again! He's an asshole!)

And then the rest of the plot is just kinda... Wrapped up. It was literally 24 minutes of sitting around talking about Jax followed by vague shit happening that may or may not have said something about C&A, and then wham bam thank you ma'am, the psychotic AI is our friend now.

I don't know. I had some hope for this show and in the past couple episodes it was actually starting to win me over, but that was the most lackluster finale I've ever seen.

I started watching Tokyo Ghoul (yes, only now, I was just vaguely familiar with the concept before)

And the thing that sticks out most to me is that Ghouls can just. Eat corpses? They don't have to be alive, or freshly killed. They can just pick up a days-old corpse and munch on it

Meaning Ghouls aren't obligate predators. They're scavengers. They're hyenas.

All of human society has apparently spent centuries asking why Ghouls exist, and NO ONE came to the conclusion of "The same reason vultures do - to get rid of corpses, preventing disease and cleaning up the environment"

They could literally be vital to the ecosystem and instead of just letting them be normal humans with an admittedly disturbing, but very beneficial diet, saving up tons of landmass used for graveyards AND being better for the environment than both cremation and embalming, AND preventing senseless bloodshed by forcing them to kill to survive, people have just decided to war with them for literally no real reason

Like if every Ghoul had access to meat do you really think this would be an issue? Millions of people die every day, and there's seemingly more humans than Ghouls. AND Ghouls only need to eat once a month. There's literally plenty to go around, even if we require written consent, organ donor style.

Sure, Ghoul murders would still happen, but, like. So do regular murders.

And yes, that being said, humans saying "NO THAT'S GROSS/IMMORAL" for arbitrary religious and/or that-feels-bad-so-it's-bad reasons and just refusing to concede on an option that's safer, cheaper, easier and more humane is, admittedly, very realistic.

Admittedly, I know very little about TG. But if I was expected to allow a fully intelligent person to eat my mother's corpse and just be fine with them walking around polite society like it never happened I would probably go insane so I can see why opposition is the way it is.

But like I said it's fully possible to make this functional and viable while operating on a body-donor basis similar to how we do with organs. Don't want them to eat your mom? Don't donate her body, or rather don't have her donate it before her death.

I'm sure that doesn't remove the inherit concern of "There's still cannibals around", but like - there's cannibals around anyway. The difference is whether they kill unwilling humans or dispose of the corpses of already-dead, willing ones.

I know people generally have much higher regard for dead bodies than I do, and I'm not saying this is an ideal society, but it's better than being hunted in the night or an outright war, isn't it?

I feel like so many people share the sentiment that Denji was "lol lobotomized" in part 2 without ever giving thought to the fact that... I mean... Trauma can fuck you up, yeah.

In part 1, Denji learns that not only is he allowed to have affection, but also that that affection doesn't necessarily have to be sex. It's a very important, prevalent theme of the manga.

But by part 2, he has lost nearly everything - Nayuta is all the family he has left, and even that was basically just foisted onto him. He has a sense of purpose and family, but still not in the way he actually wants it. And he walks around shellshocked and zoned out because - in case ya missed it! - he literally had to witness and/or cause the deaths of anyone he's ever cared about.

And so Denji becomes fixated again on the idea of sex - this time not because it's the only form of love he can conceive of, but because it's his "If Only". "If only I had more money, I'd be happy", "If only I were famous, I'd be happy", "If only I lived in a different place, I'd be happy" - people LOVE their "If Only"-s, their ideas that one single little factor is all that's keeping them from finally being happy (and of course, if you ever happen to achieve your "If Only", you're more than likely to quickly find a new factor to blame all your woes on). For Denji, sex is the one thing he wanted from the start (which he still doesn't consciously realise the reason for), it's the one thing he never got, and even though he's experienced family and financial stability and purpose and Not Being Homeless, he still isn't happy - so, yeah, "If Only" he had sex, maybe it'd finally fix him.

I feel the need to point out that Denji not being particularly smart is a key factor here. He can't put together that that's not how life works.

On top of that, he also clings more than ever to the concept of Chainsaw Man, and he does so for two reasons - one, because it lets him escape. Because he doesn't want to be what he is, and what he is is a traumatised, lonely, sensitive, isolated, terrified, miserable boy, and who would want to be that when they could be GODDAMN CHAINSAW MAN?!

Chainsaw Man stops being a tool he can use to chase his dreams and becomes a replacement for Denji. Even when Chainsaw Man comes directly between Denji and his dream of a simple life, he chooses Chainsaw Man - because a simple life has already been taken from him, because he doesn't trust it will stay, and because he profoundly hates being himself. Chainsaw Man becomes an escape, an obsession, an unhealthy coping mechanism, Denji wants to disappear into Chainsaw Man because Chainsaw Man is Cool and Epic and People Love Him, and Denji is sad, pathetic and alone.

Chainsaw Man is strong. Denji is weak.

It's just the best thing to use to escape himself.

And that second reason? Chainsaw Man is also Pochita. Chainsaw Man is the physical manifestation of the first friend Denji ever had, of the first being that ever loved and held him. Of course he can't let go of it, even though being Chainsaw Man doesn't let him speak to or be with Pochita, his grief and his desire to cling to someone that's already gone only strengthens with each new person he loses. Chainsaw Man also represents his refusal to move on and actually live in the present.

And, yeah, the manga doesn't do much to "teach" Denji to do better. Maybe it could have, were Fujimoto a different kind of guy. Personally, I always knew the ending would feel the way it did.

But Denji isn't written like a shonen protagonist. He's written like a person. And sometimes when a person is obsessed with an unhealthy coping mechanism, the only thing to do is to just take it away.

Say what you want about the CSM ending being rushed or whatever, but at least it didn't make me physically stop and comment out-loud "Oh God, I don't want to read this" the way JJK's ending did.

Don't get me wrong, I love the characters, setting and concept of JJK, but those last chapters were a painful slog to get through. The constant and I mean constant giant blocks of text of the narrator explaining some overly complicated hyperspecific niche of someone's technique, followed by the characters commenting on the same thing, followed by the narration revealing yet another hyperspecific detail previously not considered, followed by characters suddenly naming that new detail, followed by said name being repeated 40 times over, all increasingly getting more and more convoluted until it was literally just fucking Action Sounding Words Adlib. Jesus Christ it was nauseating, it read like actual shounen slop.

I'm not the best at following action scenes on the best of days but the moment we started fighting Sukuna literally everything on screen became simultaneously tideously over-explained and spoon-fed to the audience, and yet somehow entirely incomprehensible at the exact same time. How do you even do that?

At least CSM had the good grace to bow out the moment the last action scene started to drag, and also never felt the need to explain a goddamn thing about how its power system worked. At least JoJo's limits its painfully specific explanations of entirely nonsensical abilities to one (1) time, and then let's you just gape at the spectacle for the rest of it even if you're confused. Hell I actively dislike Bungou Stray Dogs' "Whatever shit just happens" approach to abilities but at least it lets us just look at cool shit happening without having to untangle a dissertation's worth of made up words pretending to be text.

The entire JJK finale was EXHAUSTING.
