Trivial Commentary

Extra Curricular: Concise and engaging. The voice-over was direct and definitely advertised the short. I like how in the short video, we are introduced so many different aspects of the video: the tension, conflict, pleasantries, and implied resolutions... I am curious to see how the video will unfold, reality-TV style.

Live to Blossom: I can imagine this to be an interesting fictional coming-of-age story. I like how the flowers are incorporated into the shots; are you thinking of including a different flower for each moment in the main character's life? I'm curious to see how each event of this movie can add dimension to the character we are presented. 

Music Documentary: The breadth of information and testimonials compiled together in the three minutes presented drew me to the words of other people. The audio and clean cuts of the gave the viewer room to view moments of the singers from an intimate perspective. It is simple and enjoyable to watch.

Knit: That was crisp, cut to convey the message very clearly. Music and Narration well synced. Closed shots intensified the focus. I loved the last cut where yarn was used to feature the purpose of the trailer. Uber Creative ending. All The Best

The Happy Project: Great Job Monica. Very clever use of the fonts in the beginning. The motive of the video is definitely clear but I am keen to know what final shape does the movie take. All The Best

Allison's Sleepless in Harvard: Great attempt on the concept. If shot and edited well the concept deserves to go for a short film festival. Brainstrom the script, brainstorm the title :-) this concept has potential. All The Best

Venvy: William is a rockstar. You really understand the pulse of the moment. I appreciate your thought process and your video is really professional. However I am keen to know more about the shots which were not taken recently for the video. I mean did you take them from a resource or shot it months ago or ... I am all wrong. Will chat about this. All The Best

Music Documentary: Loved the documentary style of beginning to the trailer where the audio precedes the video. Great shots particularly the one with graphics in the background and focus on the narrator. This looks like a great precursor to very deserving documentary. All The Best Viviana and Rezwan

Trailer cmnts- Viviana Formoso

KNIT- I love it! The music in this trailer really adds a sense of excitement to something that is simple. I really enjoy the opening shot of the stacking of the different types of knits that there are. The narration alongside the music and the fast flowing knits fit really well together and I feel made the audience excited to discover more. The ending was the best part with the spelling of KNIT using yarn- very creative!

CRACKPOT- Very cool and different approach. Cool use of animation. I really liked the beginning of it with the pot moving around. The concept is cool but to be honest it seemed a little repetitive in movements towards the end, and you lost me a little as to what exactly the film will be about. Other than that (from what I understood this was about) I find it a great intro for a learning series on programs and companies?

EXTRA CIRRICULAR- I loved it! I really like that you made the intro bold and interesting for the age group that is to watch this. The cutaway shots were great and really told the story. I liked how you included the tension and conflict in the trailer and also included a little fun with the horse's conflict to still grab your audiences attention. Well done!

CRACKPOT - Intro Trailer 

Crackpot will be an internet show to probe what goes into cracking your dream company. It will be a collaborative video where company officials, college authorities, successful recruits and potential aspirants share their takes and help unearthing the secrets of getting a job with the dream employer. This is the intro and my final project will be first episode of the series.

So obviously it does not have a story board as it is a collaborative take.

Storyboard: Types of Shots I Plan to Include

Low-Angle Shots: Depict emotions of characters in a close range.

Profile Shots: Depict characters in placement to their setting.

Over-the-Shoulder Shots: What are the characters' actions and thoughts that make them who they are?

(45 Degree Angle) Shots: Shots cut into the subject at 45 degree angles for cleanliness. And a way to attempt continuity because of lack of experience.

Close/Medium Range Shots: No need for wider shots. Wider shots seem too outsider-like and scenic to be needed for this kind of short film.

In the Life of Music - Story Board

So, the narrative arch of the piece is introduction of you (audio from the your sit down interview, and visuals are B-Rolls of you practicing, rehearsing, working, putting on makeup, preparing for an event, etc.), then the tension/conflict is the struggle musicians and you have and the emotional and professional journey you working (audio from the your sit down interview, and chats with your group/band,discussions, arguments, etc. and visuals are footage of you in the studio working, recording, with your group/band, B-Rolls of you, your group members, jamming, closeups of mixers, instruments, finger and hand actions, coffees, cigarettes, stack of music notes, sheets,etc.), and the resolutions is the final performance at your event and some concluding remarks from you and the group. 

OPEN: Voice over of someone counting down 1 -2- 3- 4. Each number is a shot that fades to black of each person we interviewed for the documentary at work. 

CUT TO: piano slider of Rebecca playing and signing on piano. Rebecca is our first person because we want to build up to the students with the greatest struggles. Voice over of her discussing music 

CUT TO: interview voice over into clips/Broll of her practice 

CUT TO: her performance CUT TO and END WITH: Rebecca discussing the struggle and quote (smiles) 

CUT TO: Armeen b+w shot close up of her singing acapella her original song then voice over of interview clips CUT TO: a few Broll shots of practice. Fade into interview clips again

CUT TO: Voice over of her discussing the struggle and the pay off (CUT TO her in the studio) voice over at the end of her interview with her nice quote and smile FADE to ALEJO 

ALEJO: clip of soundboard raising the volume music goes up with the visual rising of the voice on the soundboard; strings are playing 

CUT TO: Alejo introducing himself broll of him in the studio working Voice over of him discussing his struggle broll of some self reflection shots 

CUT TO: him conducting in the studio voice over of him discussing struggle and love for music and the struggle paying off fade back into his interview ending with his quote and advice (make sure its a quiet ending) 

CUT TO: BIG SOUND of practice with Purva, and the band joking around and having fun 

CUT TO: clip of her introducing herself fade into broll of her around campus and working with the band while voice over of her love of music and where it comes from 

CUT TO: her directing band at practice and back to interview of her sitting down 

CUT TO: studio time and fun time with band 

CUT TO and END WITH: Her signing "wheres the air im breathing.." end with her smiling and lovely quote fade to black crescendo of her audio bit of the song she was just singing
