Tips for organizing Tumblr blogs
Q: As I was trying to organize my blog today, I couldn't figure out how to put each section into categories. I wanted to make a category for meme examples, spinofff meme examples, and background for the project including the Boyd relation part. Do you have any tips on how to do that?
A: Tumblr isn’t the best platform for organizing by topic. However, there are a few ways to tackle this problem. The easiest would be to use metadata (in this case, hashtags) to associate each post with certain keywords. That way readers can click on a particular hashtag to find all similar posts.
Another way would be to create several pages, one for each category. You can do that under the “edit appearance” option that I demonstrated in class. Go to the bottom of the editing tools to find the option for adding pages.
Besides that, there are a couple other annoying but effective possibilities. The first would be to organize each group of examples into their own post. You can easily include many images in a single post, even breaking them up with text if you’d like. Or you could just reorganize the posts so they move sequentially from one topic to the next.
These last options are annoying because they’d require you deleting all the posts you’ve made so far and redoing them in the correct category. If you go that route, I suggest creating drafts, then posting them once you’ve planned everything out accordingly. Hope that helps!
Don’t know if it’s too late to tell you all, but I am doing the Shia Labeouf “Just Do It” meme. I chose this meme because I think it is versatile and has the ability to span outside of the meme culture.Â
I picked this meme because of the controversy going on in today's society with Donald Trump running for elections. They did the same photo montage for Obama, but for trump it says "Nope". Saying we don't want to vote for him.Â
I chose the Dwight Schrute meme. I chose this because I love The Office and I think it would be great for the assignment to get to go into more detail about the show and how it was popularized.
I chose this meme of Dwight from the office, there are many other versions of this meme that have been created from this popular original.
Meme Vault
I was debating whether or not to research Kim Jong Un memes, but I figured it would shed lots of light on the conflict between North and South Korea. Sure, it could get a little racist, but that’s the point, in which case, forgive me for this photo. I, honestly, think these memes are hilarious because of how ridiculous they are. What surprises me is that people have the guts to make fun of a powerful despot. This should be a fun research topic!
Meme about Welfare
I am choosing to do welfare or either black lives matter. I put this one up because I'm slightly leaning my towards this. I liked this one because there are a lot of individuals who claim they are independent and have money but in reality most of that money they didn't work for.
I am choosing to use the keanu reeves meme, it is one of the favorites can say that it has a large database of them to curate.
Because I'm a crazy girlfriend lol
My favorite sport is baseball and since I watch it all day long, I hear the announcers talk about some nonsense records. It is hilarious to me because it seems like they make statistics or records for every little thing.
Tom Hiddleston grabbing things showed up about a year ago when an interviewer asked him to imitate Natalie Portman from the Thor poster. Frankly I just find it funny.
