I found a very interesting article. This was written a year ago. The author is sort of an “insider” who lives on the Adriatic Coast and frequently “stalks” Valentino (a thing that Vale doesn’t seem to appreciate, indeed from his articles it’s quite clear the dislike is mutual). His source of information is the infamous (as he calls it) “Radio Tavullia International” : many exclusive news have come from him, such as the request of appeal to the CAS by Vale. This is my (hopefully decent) translation:

Many riders at the ranch in Tavullia.
We all know that motorbike riders are “lovely rascals”, we all know that Vale Rossi and his followers are fun-loving people that are specialized in evading questions with vain speeches, but fortunately for us there is “Radio Tavullia International”. It gives us hope to become aware of facts that would otherwise remain confined to the Ranch or who knows where.
Yesterday morning at the bar, a gentleman (drinking the second coffee of the day), who was reading the Gazzetta dello Sport article we had written the day before about the challenge between Vale and Marquez at the Ranch, recognized us and told us so: “It’s true what you wrote, but it’s not completely true that the guys (riders) have gone for a walk: they made a real race.” A moment of silence then, realizing that he had caught the attention of the few people present, but then he continues sure of himself: “I was there and I saw it.”
Taking the initiative, the reporter shoots the “murderous" question: “So if you were there, can you tell me who won the race?” “Of course - he says smiling – Marquez won the last challenge, “L’Americana” as they call it and is held in the evening, but Marquez was very fast throughout the afternoon. “
The luck of the early chronicler does not end there because the guy, in order to show that he knows a lot, continues the story: “At some point Marquez even fell, a harmless slip, of course, but he had braked too much at the limit to be a “sborone” *this is in dialect, it basically means poser, bragger, boaster, etc.*, because an opponent had just passed him.“
Of course not? “Of course yes! – he responds - I have seen him.”
And who was the opponent, Valentino? “No, I do not think he was him, but it all happened in a flash and not too close to me, but fortunately in no time the Spanish man was already standing. It was not only him who fell, but several other riders as well and luckily no one was hurt. ”
Well, then it means that the boys – we ask – went full throttle? “Even more - it is the answer -Marquez and his friend Rabat had downloaded from the internet the characteristics of the track. They knew everything about the Ranch, they are professionals and Marquez had even brought with him the rear suspension and the fork of the Honda. ”
Yes, we wrote this – trying to change the subject - but was Marquez strong immediately from the start, or …? “No, no - he interrupted heatedly – in the first laps he put himself behind Vale – (and he mimics the chase with his hands) - to learn the lines and where to put the tyres, and then after four or five laps, he threw wide open the throttle: he looked like a pixie. That kid is so strong it is almost frightening. ”
Stronger than Vale? “I do not know but I think Rossi let him play.”
But did he beat Vale? “Yes - is the answer - but Vale is cunning and he studied him pretty well, I think that that afternoon Rossi realized what is the real limit of Marquez.”
Ah yes, and what is it? “The boy wants to be up front at all costs, but in this way crashing is looming very close, and indeed he fell even at the Ranch.”
The man then puts his hands in his pockets, approaches the cashier and says: “I pay for my coffee and even for the journalist’s one.”
We thank him, greet him with a goodbye and a handshake and we think: the day started pretty well, even if we know that from that moment it means that we have to begin the hard and long work of verifying the news and it will end late in the evening.
The balance is positive: the guy did not say nonsense, everything seems quite accurate but we remain with an afterthought about the “I think that Vale let him play.”
This statement, translated, means that Vale, sly as a fox, has invited Marquez in Tavullia to know him better.
To understand, to identify the weak side of the opponent, in a completely different context from that of the circuits where Marc seems unbeatable. In a friendlier atmosphere perhaps it is easier to grasp human weaknesses.
Tuesday at the Ranch, Vale understood that his subtle irony - that alone was enough to devastate his opponents of a time - does not work with Marquez, he realized that it takes more to “make him close the vein” *make him see the red mist in English I suppose?* and probably now the Doctor knows what it takes and will soon “make him go to therapy”.
Marc is basically, in the good sense of the term, a “sborone” (boaster) when he is riding. He is the “cheeky chap” (even more than Vale himself was in the beginnings of his career, which is saying something) that last year at Laguna Seca wanted to overtake Rossi in the exact same spot where Rossi had passed Stoner in an almost impossible maneuver, the same boy that on Sunday in Misano wanted to overtake him not just anywhere on the circuit, but he exactly wanted to overtake him in front of the crowded grandstand of the VR46 fans and that’s where he went belly up.
Rossi will “cure” Marquez, it will take a bit of time because the patient is tough, but Vale has already begun and is in no hurry, because the Doctor wants to win the tenth World Title next year and so for the moment he made him happy at the Ranch: he gave him a rematch.”
