dimensionally-challenged:
âShe wasnât always like thisâŚâ Maria sighed before biting her lip.
âWhat exactly did my sister do?â She asked as she looked at the sidewalk ahead of her as they walked. She didnât think she could wait until she got home to find out.
âShe isnât hurt is she?â
âWhen someone uses their powers to commit crimes, that gets passed on to SHIELD. Most local forces donât have the ability to deal with that. We find them, arrest them and put them in a custom lockup to defeat their abilities until they go to trial. They are, of course, not eligible for bail. I have video and photos of multiple robberies committed by your sister.â
âWhat if she returned everything? Iâm sure I can convince her.. I think..â Maria frowned as she couldnât stand the thought of being separated from her sister.
Despite all that Lenore had done, she was still her sister. Her only sister, her only family. She was all she had.
âThis is it..â She breathed as she stopped in front of an alleyway next to a vaccant store front. With a sigh she walked down the alleyway and stopped when she came to a rusty metal door.
âNo. Real life doesnât work that way.â Phil replied seriously. âSheâs committing crimes, and is very, VERY bold about the fact that she does not care about who is being inconvenienced by it. I thought you were her, Iâm at this point willing to believe you might be telling me the truth and itâs a twin.â
Maria frowned as she pulled out her phone and handed it to him, while hitting the home button. The lock screen lit up to reveal a picture of two women, both identical herself. The two were smiling and both sitting at the same coffee shop Maria had been at earlier.
"Believe me now?" She huffed as she pulled a key out of her pocket and unlocked the door.
"Her name is Lenore Brandt, she's the one on the right..." She breathed as she pulled the heavy door open and took a deep breath. "That picture was taken eleven days ago...day before she left..." She hesitated as she turned to him.
"I understand that she broke the law, and I understand more than anyone that her actions have inconvenienced people. But she is my sister, she's the only family I have.."

âIt doesnât matter really..Itâs only temporary..â Maria sighed as she hit the button for the crosswalk. âLenâsâŚâhobbies,â tend keep us from staying in one place for too long.â She frowned as she watched the donât walk sign change to walk.
âShall we?â
âIt sounds like her choices are making your life difficult.â Phil decided, standing next to her. âWe shall.â
âSisters alwsys make each otherâs lives difficult.â Maria laughed lightly as she walked across the street. âThen again, Iâm no angel to live with either, and Iâm sure Iâve made things difficult for Len.â She sighed as they reached the other side of the street.
âDepends what you mean.â Phil considered. âSiblings shouldnât cause legal difficulty for each other, which is what has happened now.â
"She wasn't always like this..." Maria sighed before biting her lip.
"What exactly did my sister do?" She asked as she looked at the sidewalk ahead of her as they walked. She didn't think she could wait until she got home to find out.

Maria sighed as she heard him mention âteleporting.â He was looking for Len.
âWhat did she do this time?â She asked with a sigh as she looked at the agent with a concerned expression. âWas it another bank?â
Phil gestured. âSee, just like that weâre civilized. She, hm? And yes, it was a bank and several stores. I have video and photos. The teleport power is fairly obvious.â
âAnd difficult to track..â Maria sighed as she shook her head. âCan we discuss this somewhere else? Somewhere private perhaps?â She asked as she could feel some people being to stare.
âSome of us donât like crowds..â
@govthookercoulson
âWe can. What would you prefer, a ride to a local office? A booth at a diner? Where would you be comfortable?â
âI live a couple of blocks away, if thatâs alright..â Maria suggested as she felt the most safe in their temporary makeshift home. âSensitive matters such as this to be discussed away from public.â
âIf you trust me with that information, certainly. Lead the way.â Phil nodded and gestured for her to do so.

âThank you.. I havenât had anyone to talk to about this.â Maria sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. âItâs hard when your twin sister isâŚâ She hesitated before leaning forward and whispering. âA criminal..â
@dimensionally-challenged
âYouâre welcome,â she listened more. âYour sisterâs a criminal?â Pepper wasnât ready to hear that. âIs she on the run?â
âNot exactly.. If she were on the run, so would I.. She and I are identical..â Maria sighed as she glanced out the window. âWe just tend to lay low.. And when ever she does something horribly stupid, weâŚrelocate. So unfortunately about every other month.â
âMoving around seems horrible.â Pepper liked the safety of knowing that she had friends and family close by. âI couldnât do that with my job. Laying low seems good. Is she in trouble now?â She suspected that she wasnât since Maria was out in public.
âAt least you have a job.. The job market isnât exactly welcoming when your identical twin is a known thief.â Maria scoffed before shaking her head and sighing. âI had to drop out of college..â
Maria had to give up many opportunities because of Lenâs âhobbies,â but sometimes it was for the best.
âAs for current trouble, I havenât seen her in a few days, so either sheâs planning something, or sheâs doing something as we speak..â She frowned as she glanced out the window behind her.
âI understand that because you two have the same looking face, youâre not the same person.â Pepper spoke slowly. âWhy did you drop out? It seems like you were on another path than hers.â
"I was on a different path.. I got into a great school, had a few friends and my grades were pretty good.. But some skeletons just don't stay in the closet.." Maria sighed as she clenched her fists, "Sometimes no matter how hard you try to forget something.. How hard you try to bury it, it always comes back to haunt you.."
"My sister isn't the only one with powers.." She started as she looked down at table. "She can control hers, and I can sometimes control mine.." She breathed as she ran a hand through her hair.
"I....can manipulate time.." She reluctantly whispered. "Or as many people call it, Time travel.."

âHe sounds like my sister. Completely unpredictable, and always on the go.. If only sheâs use her gifts for good like Mr. StarkâŚâ Maria sighed as she looked out the window, smiling slightly as the rain stopped. âLooks like the rain stopped..â
@dimensionally-challenged
âSheâs a genius?â Pepper had no idea what that felt like. It must have been nice to know everything about everything. âSometimes itâs not all for good, but he can be convinced when things are going to go bad.â
âNot exactly a genius, but she isâŚgifted..â Maria sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. âJust because you have gifts, it doesnât give you the right to abuse them.. If only she would learn restraint.â She mumbled before shaking her head.
âIâm sorry.. I donât mean to vent.â She apologized with a sigh.
âItâs okay, though you havenât given me any details as to what her gifts actually are. If itâs all the same, I canât talk about what goes on at Stark Industries. You can vent all you want. Iâve been told that Iâm a good listener.â

âIt must take a lot to run a company.â Maria breathed as she sipped her coffee. âBeing in charge of everyone and everything.. Itâs stressful isnât it?â
âI donât know how you do it. It must take real leadership skills.â She smiled as she turned her head to watch the rain.
@dimensionally-challenged
âSome days more than others,â she confessed. âEveryday is different. Everyday is a new challenge. UmâŚI have a group of great people that I delegate to. I donât have to micromanage them, which is great.â
âSo then, whatâs it like to work with Tony Stark?â Maria asked as she finished her coffee before sighing.
âIâm sorry if Iâm annoying you with all these questions.â
@my12percentofamoment
âYouâre not annoying.â Pepper grinned softly. âWorking with him is like working with a whirlwind. You never know what direction itâs going to go, or what is going to be left behind. The man is brilliant in his own right. He just has funny ways of using his genius.â
