The 2nd Shingeki no Kyojin: THE REAL trailer (Video)
Opening at Universal Studios Japan on January 23rd!
At first, this seemed really creepy.... but that looks like a hella fun idea for a theme park. Get to it Universal!
Upstairs, Liam had been practicing the piano when he heard a commotion down stairs. He stopped playing and recognized Lita's voice, but he couldn't make out who she was talking to. He sat for a moment until he heard the mystery visitor laugh. Immediately, Liam felt his stomach flutter--it was Zack. Ever since Lita suggested Zack was free-game, Liam had found himself increasingly infatuated. While he was nervous around Madeline, Zack outright crippled him; forget walking into traffic, Liam could nearly forget to breathe.
"Just don't go downstairs...there's no rea--" said Liam to himself before hearing his sister call from downstairs; he groaned, closing his eyes.
"Liam!" she called again, her tone impatient. "C'mere!"
Liam sighed, "Alright!"
Gathering his courage, Liam pushed himself away from the piano and slid off of the bench. Lita was up to something and he was pretty sure it had something to do with the ebony haired dreamboat downstairs. He raked his hand through his hair, contemplating on whether or not he should get his hat from his bedroom. Before he could decide, Lita started whining for him again. Liam grumbled, blowing a stray hair out of his face. ("I'm coming--sheesh!") As he descended the stairs, his assumptions were confirmed: Zack and Lita were sitting on the couch watching reruns of Primeval. Liam fought back the urge to run away screaming as he stepped onto the main floor.
"There you are," said Lita unable to mask the excitement on her face.
Liam made his way around the chaise, "I was trying to practice, you know."
Lita waved him off, "You can practice later...we have a guest."
Resisting the urge to give his sister the look, Liam nervously waved at the boy sitting next to his sister, "Hey, Zack..."
Zack glanced over, double taking, "Liam?"
Liam stood in place, not sure how to respond, "...yeah?"
Zack laughed, "Sorry--I almost didn't recognize you."
Liam cocked at eyebrow and few strands of hair he had previously brushed back fell across his face, "What do you mean?"
"Your hair," said Zack, nodding his head. "You've always got that beanie on..."
Liam flushed, "Oh, yeah...My mom's been dying to cut it..."
Giggling, Lita piped in, "You ought to see him run every time she has a pair of scissors."
Zack chuckled, "Well, what I was going to say was that it looked...nice."
"You can be honest with him, Zack, he's used to the abuse," said Lita, winking in Liam's direction."
Zack jabbed Lita playfully with his elbow, "Don't listen to her,man--It takes a badass dude to work that Kurt Russell style."
While Liam wasn't sure he could take much more embarrassment, he couldn't help but laugh out loud and drop his voice an octave lower, "The name's Plissken."
Lita sat back as the two boys simultaneously started laughing and bantering between each other. She apparently was missing something very funny. As both Liam and Zack realized they were the only two laughing, they quieted and looked to Lita for a response.
"...I don't get it," said Lita blankly.
"You know, Escape from L.A.?" asked Zack incredulously.
Liam rolled his eyes, "That's the one where Kurt Russell's a mercenary hired by the President to find a doomsday device and then was injected with a virus bomb that'd kill him if he didn't find it...?"
Lita narrowed her eyes, tilting her head in thought, "...Yeaaah.."
"You fell asleep and woke up when he was being held captive by the plastic surgery rejects..."
"OH! Yeah, that move was dumb."
"Well, you also didn't like Galaxy Quest, so, you're opinion is meaningless," said Liam with out missing a beat.
Zack looked shocked, "Seriously, Lita?"
"I mean it was okay...I wouldn't watch it again..."
"I don't think we can be friends anymore," said Zack with a smile.
Lita sneered as she stood up, "Well that's okay, you and my brother can be BFFs and watch all those dumb movies. So, I'll just leave you two to bond mano a mano."
Liam's face fell, "OH--come on Lita..." he said as he motioned back towards the television, "you'll miss the best part."
Lita grinned, "I've seen this episode like a thousand times--but can you believe someone's never watched it before?"
Zack half held his hand up as Lita walked around the back of the couch towards the study. She stuck her tongue out at Liam when she knew Zack couldn't see. Liam quickly narrowed his eyes, before turning his attention back to his friend.
"...Well, prepare to have your mind blown," said Liam, miming an explosion from his head with his hands. "Two words: time travel and dinosaurs."
"...That's three," said Zack, smiling.
"Fine, three words--shut up. Down side, you gotta start from the beginning or else you'll be hella confused."
"Well, now you have my interest..."
Liam sat down in Lita's spot and grabbed the game controller from the side table and began scrolling through the episode titles until he found the first one and pressed play. Zack carefully watched Liam, amused by the red-head's excitement. Sitting back against the couch, Zack pulled his attention away as the show began playing. Lita had peered around the door from her seat at the computer desk. She smiled to herself before disappearing from sight once again.
"I didn't realize that you and Lita were like...buddy buddy," said Liam, glancing over to Zack.
"Well, we don't really do much outside of school...but I just moved to this side of town, so maybe we can all hangout -- Lita actually caught me on my way back home."
Liam felt his heart skip, "How far? You don't have to watch this you know, it can be...addicting."
Zack chuckled, "Pretty close actually--we're neighbors, so marathon it up!"
"If it gets too late, you can just stay here," called Lita unable to contain herself.
Liam could have died. Just died...
"Well, depends on how mind blowing Liam's taste is," said Zack slyly, looking over to his left.
...and then be resurrected and die again. Liam flushed, realizing he had made a grave mistake. He was going to have a difficult time surviving the evening without letting his feelings for the other painfully obvious. Zack, no matter how coy his tone, appeared none the wiser. Liam could only hope.
Conveniently watching one of Liam's favorite shows, Lita?
Lita was taking out the trash and noticed a familiar face walking down the sidewalk. Zackery Layne was obviously not paying attention; two white ear buds were just visible against his dark hair. Lita smiled to herself as she couldn't have been more lucky. Since Liam's over due confession, she was doing everything she could to play matchmaker. She knew that while Liam had a crush on Madeline, his efforts would be a lost cause. Not only was Madeline in an on again/off again relationship with their cousin, Bryce, she also had a habit of dating around. She may have been a nice friend, she wasn't an ideal girlfriend. Lita's opinion of her friend was only reaffirmed after learning that Madeline had been recently seen gallivanting around with their other cousin, Jody. Zack was perfect....well, at least on paper.
Lita called out to her classmate as he neared the house. She hurried down the front steps, acting as if she had just seen him. Zack slowed his pace, removing one of his ear-buds. He smiled and waved at Lita, meeting her in front of large blue house.
"Hey, Lita," said Zack as he removed his other ear-bud and let the cords fall around his neck, "I didn't realize this was your house!"
Lita shrugged, "We found it best if it looked as least suspicious as possible..."
Zack laughed and looked back to a large brown house down the street, "I always figured that big one across from the beach would be yours."
Lita rolled her eyes, "That's my uncle's house. He even has a pool."
"Well, he is in a band...and manages a few..." mused Zack. "Goes with the territory, I guess."
"True--But what are you doing around here? Don't you live across town?"
Zack grinned, "We just moved--my dad just got remarried."
"Hmm...congrats? How's the step-mom?"
"Eh, she's okay...nicer than my mom," said Zack, nonchalantly.
"Which house?" asked Lita, trying not to sound too excited.
"Actually..." said Zack, his voice trailing as he pointed to a newly built house next door.
"No way! How come we haven't seen you more?"
"Well, we're just moving in now," laughed Zack, then motioned to the moving truck in the drive way.
"OH, duh--well...hey, if you're not doing anything you can always hang out here for a while..." said Lita, watching Zack's presumed step-mother directing the moving team and a man who could only be Zack's father.
Zack glanced over at the team in front of his house and grinned, "I'll say I got lost."
"That bad?"
"She's also a little OCD...she'll have them move the couch about a billion times before she's happy I bet," said Zack with sigh. "I do not want to be part of that."
"Well, I'll warn you...my grandparents are home and sometimes they can be a little obnoxious, so...just don't judge me," said Lita, backing up towards the house.
"Honestly, nobody is worse than my gram," said Zack with a shudder. "She sends me hand-knit sweaters every year for my birthday..."
Lita looked confused, "How is that embarrasing?"
"They usually look like an explosion of retro Lisa Frank memorabilia," grimaced Zack.
Lita choked, holding back her laughter, "Like, rainbow unicorns or something?"
Zack groaned, following Lita, "Every year."
"Yikes..."
"Yep," sighed Zack, "I guess she figures because I'm gay, that I must have the taste of a eight-year-old girl..."
("Cha-ching!!" thought Lita.)
Lita put on her best surprised expression, "I didn't kno--"
Zack laughed, "Are you really that surprised?"
"...Well, not really..." said Lita, "Honestly, Madeline and I have been trying to figure that out all year."
"So has the rest of the school," said Zack, amused. "But seriously, look at me. What dudes at our school don't have pit stains and/or greasy hair...the queers."
Lita mused, "I guess you have a point..."
Zack continued, rather perplexed, "Well, except your brother--he's a little metro, so he doesn't really count."
Lita laughed to herself, "He's metro alright..."
"What was that?"
"Oh, nothing!"
After talking to Tyler, Liam was feeling much more confident about his decision to tell his parents. However, much to his surprise, Hailey was not the least bit taken back. In fact, she and Nova seemed to have had a suspicion all along, they were merely waiting for proof. Liam was not amused.
"What do you mean you figured?!" said Liam, seething.
Hailey smiled, "Well, honey, you were always a little different. What would have wanted me to do?"
"You...you could've said something!"
"It's not a mother's place to tell her children who they can and can't like. Your father and I just figured we'd wait until you told us."
Liam was dumbfounded, "I was too scared to tell you because I thought you'd be upset and here you already knew...."
"Sweetheart, we only had our suspicions....and you should've known better than to think we'd get upset over something like that," said Hailey laughing, holding in a wheeze. "I was raised by two dads and you're father was imaginary."
Liam sat back, puzzled by his own behavior, "I mean...wow...I guess I didn't want to disappoint you."
Hailey frowned, pulling Liam into a tight hug, "Oh, baby, you would only disappoint us by not being yourself. I'm very proud of you."
Liam flushed, awkwardly returning the gesture, "O-okay, ma...I can't breathe."
"So," breathed Hailey, releasing Liam from her grasp. "When are you bringing over this girl Lita was telling me about."
Liam's smile flattened, "Of course she told you..." he sighed, "She's one of Lita's friends...and she's dating Bryce. We're just friends."
"Oh, well, we'd still like to meet her," said Hailey with a smile. "You know, in case she breaks up with him."
Liam rolled his eyes, "Okay, maybe sometime. Besides, Lita's trying to fix me up with someone in our music class."
Hailey beamed with excitement, "Is she? What's their name?"
"...Zack Layne."
"Ooo, he sounds dreamy."
"....I'm not having this conversation with you if you're going to use words like dreamy."
Hailey laughed, "Well, I'm just excited I can talk to one of my children about their crushes. Lita always blows me off..."
"I can see why."
"Oh--stop," said Hailey with a scowl. "Do you feel better now, at least?"
"Yeah, I do actually..."
"Good, my work is done. Now, did you finish your homework?"
Liam laughed nervously.
"Well, you won't be seeing any girls or boys if you don't get that homework done so you better march right upstairs and get started," said Hailey somewhat sternly.
"Okay, Okay!" said Liam, standing. "Between you and Lita..."
"You don't want to flip hamburgers for the rest of your life do you?!"
Liam groaned, walking up the stairs, "No."
"Thanks, Grandpa."
"Anytime, kiddo."
Over the next few days, Liam was slowly building up his confidence of finally coming to terms with his sexuality. He couldn't understand how Lita could be so cavalier; he had kept this identity hidden for so long...it wasn't easy to go. He wasn't sure why he was so nervous about telling his parents or grandparents, but he knew that would be the easiest step. Somehow finding the confidence to be okay with everyone else knowing was the biggest obstacle in his way.
Liam was finishing his chores and saw Tyler sitting outside on the bench that was in the front yard. He felt a knot grow in his stomach as he dragged his feet outside. He kicked at the leaves that had fallen from the large oak tree that provided shade for his grandfather's favorite thinking spot. He walked over to Tyler and calmly sat down next to the older gentleman. Tyler glanced over at his grandson, but said nothing. Liam sighed, avoiding eye contact while he attempted to gather his thoughts.
"Something on your mind, kiddo?" said Tyler, almost knowingly.
Liam looked over, resting his hands on his knees, "Eh...kinda."
"Kinda?" replied Tyler, his eyebrow raised. "You look like you're about to vomit..."
Liam stifled a chuckle, "Well, I sorta feel that way."
Tyler straightened himself, scowling, "Alright, what did you do?"
"What?"
"I won't tell your mother, so go on--did you get a bad grade...did you steal something?"
Liam looked over at his grandfather, his face twisted into a grimace, "Wha--No! Can I not just talk to my own grandfather?"
"Well...frankly, usually you and your sister only come to me for damage control," said Tyler flatly.
"Tch," spat Liam, standing. "Nevermind, it was stupid anyway..."
Tyler rolled his eyes, grabbing Liam's arm and pulling him back, "Sit down."
Liam scowled and slouched down, avoiding making eye contact with Tyler.
"Does this have something to do with the funk you've been in all week?" asked Tyler, genuinely.
"I don't know," said Liam, still not looking at his grandfather. "Yeah, I guess..."
Tyler's expression softened, "Girl problems?"
"Ehh..."
"...Guy problems?"
Liam coughed, looking over to his grandfather, "Well...both--How did you--"
"I wasn't born yesterday," said Tyler with a smile.
Liam sighed, falling back against the back of the bench. He wasn't sure if he was more upset that his grandfather stole his thunder or that he was apparently more transparent than he had realized. Tyler pat Liam's knee firmly, laughing softly to himself.
"What's so funny?"
"You remind me a lot of myself when I was your age."
Liam looked back to his grandfather, "I do?"
"Oh yeah," laughed Tyler. "Almost exactly."
"...Mom always made it seem like you and Grandad were always together."
"Of course she did--that's what we told her," said Tyler. "I never told anybody how I felt about guys until I met Elliot. I'd date a lot of girls...so you can imagine my parents' reaction."
Liam frowned, "What did they do?"
Tyler shrugged, "They kicked me out. Things were different back then... you honestly have it pretty good."
Liam scowled, "You haven't been to high school in a long time either. I'm going to be torn apart by those assholes."
"I won't lie and say that everybody is going to cheer you on...of course there's always going to be one dick that says something nasty, but it's not nearly as painful than trying to pretend to be something you're not."
Liam sighed, "I guess..."
"You're just like your mother--so melodramatic," said Tyler with a yawn. "I understand right now, it's a huge deal....but a few years from now, you'll be thanking yourself."
Liam groaned, sliding further down in the seat.
"Is there anybody else who knows?"
"Lita...she's knew before I did."
Tyler smiled, "You should be thankful you have someone like her."
"Thankful? She made me--"
"She's not making you do anything, you chose to come talk to me all on your own," said Tyler, slightly annoyed. "She doesn't want to see you miserable. She's kept this secret for how long?"
Liam grew quiet, dropping his head, "...a while."
"See where I'm going? She's only trying to help you, Liam. She wouldn't support you if she didn't believe it was for the best."
"What if it's not..."
Tyler pat Liam's back, "Kiddo, trust me -- remember, I've been there. If I didn't come clean to myself about my own sexuality, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't trade that for anything."
Nova hard at work!
Or...at least I think he is >>;;
You also have these baby teenage mutant ninja turtles to protect you.
Nova, I'm not sure Elliot or Tyler would be happy knowing you were dumping pumpkin guts all over the hardwood floors.
