Let's calm things down now with this curious Currawong!
Aaaaaand we're back on Bird with Hidden Eyes! This week: Controversy! The Red Wattle Bird made what some are calling an illegal move by pulling its entire head out of the line of sight. What will our judges say to that?!
...
Feel free to tell me to shut up.
Uh oh. The New Holland Honeyeater might be a sore loser after all! That glare is shooting daggers!
Thank you for watching Birds with Hidden Eyes! Join us next week when our new contestant will try for the championship title of Most Hidden-Eyed Bird!
No hard feelings though, yeah, New Holland Honeyeater?
Failing slightly at the objective, we now say goodbye to this week's contestant, The New Holland Honeyeater.
A new challenger has entered the field: The Red-Browed Finch. Wielding a long blade of grass as part of it's nesting material, this contestant was sure to hide its eye behind a leaf just in time.
We now return to our usual programming: Birds with Hidden Eyes. This week's contestant: The Silvereye.
A Spotted Turtle-Dove that rested there for quite some time
There he is, Mr. European Goldfinch!
I can't believe I went from spotting one of these at a distance at work a month or so ago, discovering what the strange fellow was, to finally getting the chance at a shot with him! I've come to learn that some people keep this breed as pets in Australia, which would explain how they're here in the first place.
Who is this shy fellow? None other than the (introduced) European Goldfinch! You'll see his pretty face in the next shot, stay tuned!
A solitary New Holland Honeyeater, just chillin'
Like a bullet!
My first bird in flight shot! Thank you to my models, the New Holland Honeyeaters!
New Holland Honeyeaters are quite pretty little things
Butts.
After struggling so much to get decent shots of New Holland Honeyeaters, @dinosnaps and I went down to the local pondage yesterday morning (18th Oct 2025; sorry I tend to queue my photos) and we saw so many. I won't share them all but I'll share a few out of the many good ones we got that day.
