Heart of the Storm
"I don't know about you... but I don't much fancy hanging tomorrow."
The night before Callisto's execution, a devilish pirate woman is thrown into her cell.
Suddenly, she finds herself being swept off her feet... and flung onto the back of a giant rooster?!
My current primary project, a lesbian fantasy romance featuring Tempest and Callisto as the main characters. Some of the background characters crossover with my other projects! You can read it here :)
Skies
Although she looks human, walks like a human, and talks like a human, and through Selene's arcane senses... appears to be nothing but a regular human, Thistle insists that she's really a mighty lioness. She doesn't remember how she came to be transformed or anything of her past, but she knows two things: Her name is Thistle, and she is not human.
My secondary story that I occasionally play around in the space of, this isn't really an ongoing project but I have drawn and posted a little of the start of this one. Skies is a placeholder title and may change later down the line. You can read the first part of their story here.

What's Diosmaden?
Diosmaden is the name of the world my stories are set in. It comes from diosma the flower meaning "simple elegance", and "den" meaning place. As such it's not a particularly elaborate setting, but I like drawing demons and funny creatures so they're as commonplace as, like, elves are. There's also giant chickens instead of horses cause I like chickens more
Dreams of Old Gods
You are a bear. You’re very good at being a bear, you think. You’ve never really tried to be anything else, because being a bear comes to you so naturally. For example - the leaves began to turn, so you did what bears do best and sought out a nice warm comfy place to go to sleep for a very long time.
You found a cave like nothing you’d seen before, or perhaps it was a nest? The walls were rocks like a cave, but they were strangely shaped - all exactly the same size, and stacked so carefully on top of each other, like the nests your feathered friends make. You decided it must have been a nest for a very large bird once. But nobody was home, and it was so warm inside... so finding yourself a nice little corner, you settled in for a long, long winter.
But when you went to sleep, you met a creature you’ve never seen in your woods before. And when you woke, you were no longer a bear.
So this one is like, [vague noises] a video game idea? I don't know if I'll ever make it, it lives on the eternal backburner, but its important to know there would be bear gameplay sequences with essential game mechanics like sniff the breeze. It would likely be some kind of RPG which is also why it's likely to never happens LOL crazy scope on those things.

I also have various background characters in the above stories who I group into their own stories. Crushed Lavender revolves around two characters from Heart of the Storm, Dustlight would be a childrens novel contemporous with Dreams of Old Gods following Edel's younger cousin, and further back in my archives is various art of my friends' characters interacting with mine in an alternative universe, which might be a little confusing. So if it's not in the comic, don't worry about it.

its heart of the storm's anniversary today!!! however i do not have anything to post for today because it is too goddamn hot to do anything. but i can say that my current plan is for Ch2 to be ready for release around october or november, so look forward to that ❤️
i love colour, i love being deliberate with it and what a powerful tool it can be for storytelling. but if im honest.. the majority of hots ch1 I'm not happy with from a colour perspective because my focus was on getting it done and I wasn't able to be as considered as I like to be. i love the first few pages! but as the chapter goes on... it's just not my strongest work i fear.
and that was just 28 pages! ch2 is 100 pages long. i find myself really not looking forward to colouring it because I just know that if I want to prioritise getting it out this year, I simply won't be happy with the colour for the majority of it. it's not a very motivating feeling :(
So because of that, I've been taking a break from working on hots. and in that I've doing a lot of bw+spot colour work, which I do really enjoy! and especially with comics I find is a really relaxing workflow for me, plus it's fun to take advantage of the lack of colour to play around with spot colour instead—the way I used red in this comic is some of my favourite colour work ever, really. And honestly, I find it way easier to play around with and emphasise light in this workflow, which I really enjoy.
So after a lot of thinking about it, I'm making the decision to switch to this style for ch2 onwards... but it leaves me a little melancholy to be honest. I really do love colour, yknow? I may do a special full colour print run some day perhaps, but the thought of this also leaves me with a complicated feeling because I'm going to make very different decisions having taken colour out. would a colour edition really work after leaning into the lack of it? i feel like the answer will be no, not without revising some things. but, i suppose that's a problem for future me, haha.
at the end of the day, I just kind of need to get back into it, and I think this is the best choice for me to be able to finish it at all. i dont even think this changes much for you guys really, like it's not as if I think my bw work is weaker than my colour work! if anything I'd say it better compliments my linework haha. but, like i said it's a decision that leaves me a little melancholy... so i wanted to make a post about it, more for my own sake than anything else. you will be missed, the full colour ver of hots that exists in my brain... 😔🤙
alkdfglkfhgfdyh just found this art from last year that i never posted from when my friends were all drawing their ocs as kemonomimis and talking about trying to distinguish wolf ears from cat ears. i came to the conclusion though that even if you try draw distinctly wolf ears itll still read as catgirl ears because of how common catgirls are

also if youre in the EU I'll also try sort that but I'll look into that next month!! I get the distinct impression that the US is not an option at the moment though unfortunately. I'll do a proper look into it next month when I look at the US but I think it's a no go 😔
