this is gonna be incoherent as fuck but it’s so fun to me that locus denies being a monster. He’s actively causing genocide for profit, while giving zero shits about morality- because he wants to be the perfect soldier, and no way in hell does ‘morality’ fit into that schema- and he’s STILL avoiding the truth that he’s a monster. I’d expect a character like him to agree and carry on, but he denies it and it’s so fucked up and perfect. I NEED to know how his parameters for being the perfect soldier have changed over time. Were morals ever part of that? He protects his team and argues with Felix about letting them die. I don’t think his obsession was ever a good thing, but I’m convinced that over time his definition of soldier morphed more and more into ‘weapon’ rather than ‘being’, and ‘weapon’ is only a step and a half away from ‘monster’. So what’s the difference to him? Scope? Intent? Or just a denial of his crimes?
