Little Firsts

“I can’t wait until you’re done filming, but I know that it will be a while until your done filming the season.” She murmured. Looking at their daughter she nodded before easily picking her up and kissed her head as she fussed due to the movement. “It’s okay Audrey Girl.” Rachel soothed as she bounced her a little as she settled down and then took her into the nursery to lay her down. With the monitor in tow when she left she sat it on the table and sat on her husband’s lap. “I love you.”

“I got a few months, Rach,” he said pulling her close and kissing her forehead. He watched as Rachel picked up Audrey and sighed before laying back on the couch. When Rachel came back in the room he pulled her close when she sat on his lap. “I love you too. Always have,” he smiled before leaning in to kiss her and peppering kisses down her neck.

Rachel was quick to shake her head and place an hand on his arm to comfort him. “No, no, absolutely not.” She whispered to him before kissing his cheek. “I don’t mind being here and we both know that you are out providing for us. You are here a lot more than you think. You call during the day to check in on us and I know you always thinking about her. You are an amazing dad, babe.”

He looked at her and nodded. “Yeah, I know. Sometimes I just want to be here, but I can’t. I can’t wait till vacation and I can just spend time with my two girls,” he smiled as she leaned down and kissed her before tickling her sides a little. He looked down at Audrey who was fast asleep and laughed when she sighed. “You want to try to put her in her crib and we can spend some time together?”

“She’s one sleepy girl. Learning how to crawl is hard.” She grinned and kissed their little girl’s head. “Go to sleep for daddy, princess. He doesn’t get to rock you to sleep very often.”

“It is,” he laughed as he rocked her. When she started to calm down he sighed and sat back down on the couch. “I miss being here during the day. You shouldn’t have to do this by yourself,” he said with a smile as he held Audrey close. When she finally fell asleep he looked down at her and sighed. “Am I being horrible for not being here for her?” Jesse asked because he was worried that he was turning into his own parents who weren’t around as much.

Rachel laughed and shook her head. “It looks like we need to childproof.” She said knowing that there was a lot that they needed to put higher and cover up. There wasn’t a lot they could do about the plug ins but she didn’t thing that she would get in too much trouble around them after telling her no a couple of times.

“Yes, we do,” he laughed as he shook his head. He glanced at Audrey who was moving around before she started crying. “I think she’s just trying to keep herself awake,” he laughed as he rocked her a little to try and get her to calm down.

Rachel looked over at him with a smile before kissing him back. “I love you too, so much. I’ll always know that you love me. That you love me and our daughter. It makes me so happy to know that you are my husband and the father to this beautiful girl.” She kissed him again before settling an antsy Audrey to the ground to go play. “I love our life, I’m so happy with it. I love getting to spend everyday with her and that I don’t have to go back to work if I don’t want to yet”

Jesse smiled as he watched Audrey crawl around. “Our life is perfect,” she said kissing her head. “I can’t believe she’s crawling, look at her go,” he laughed before jumping up the minute he saw her b-line for the plug on the wall. “Not so fast little piggy,” he laughed before picking her up and spinning her around as he danced with her a little.

“They are very anxious to see her again. Then again I keep telling them that they can always come up here too.” Her fathers were getting stubborn as they get older so it was hard to reason with them anymore. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and you’re going to really love Lima, princess. I can’t believe this’ll be your first trip.” She stood Audrey up on her legs and kissed her as she bounced a little. “You’re going to shock them all at how big and amazing you are.”

“They could, but you know they won’t,” he laughed as he played with Rachel’s hair. “It will be fun. She’ll be showered with kisses and love,” he said as he watched Audrey smile at Rachel. “So big. I don’t like it. I want her to stay little,” he said glancing at Rachel. He just stared at her for a moment and smiled at the thought of his life. He couldn’t believe they were here with a beautiful baby girl. “I love you, you know that?” he asked with a smile as he leaned in and kissed her lips.

Rachel took Audrey and kissed her cheek before settling her on her lap. “I’m not sure. I think my dads will want us to stay with them and I think it could be nice but it’s up to you.” She murmured as she rubbed Audrey’s leg as she reached up and touched Rachel’s face. “Hi princess. Do you want to see your grandpas?”

“We can stay with your dads,” he shrugged as he wrapped an arm around Rachel. Jesse laughed when he looked at Audrey who was touching Rachel’s face. “I think she does. Come on, we need to show her off and not just in pictures.”

“I can see it, but she has your smile.” Rachel reasoned before grinning at how mobile their daughter was. “We’re not going to be able to stop her now, we’ll be chasing her all the time.” She loved watching her daughter move around no matter how heartbreaking it was that she was getting so big on them.

“She does have my smile, that I will agree with,” he laughed as he looked at Rachel as his daughter touched his nose. “I know, we’ll definitely get a work out,” he laughed before picking Audrey up over his head making her giggle. “So when we go to Lima, do you want to get a hotel or stay with your dads?” he asked looking at Rachel passing Audrey to her.

Rachel smiled and followed him to the living room and kissed their princess as she sat down beside of them. “Hello mommy’s little diva.” She grinned. Their daughter was so gorgeous and she couldn’t believe she was six months old already. “You’re so pretty, looking more like your daddy everyday.”

Jesse chuckled before looking at Rachel. “I think she looks like you. Eyes are all you; I could see those a mile away,” he laughed before leaning down kissing Rachel. Audrey started crawling all over Jesse and he laughed. “You’re mobile now so you have to crawl all over me,” he laughed as he kissed the baby.

She sighed hating that she was forcing herself to stay inside but there wasn’t much she could do about it until things died down. “A trip to Lima will be good for us.” Rachel murmured to him with a happy smile really wanting to go. She laughed when Audrey cried for attention. “Welcome to parenthood, babe.”

“It will be amazing,” he laughed as he kissed her again. “We can leave her with your dads and go out for a night,” he smiled before laughing. “Yeah, yeah,” he said walking into the living room. “Yes, little rugrat,” he said as he picked up the baby and sat down on the couch. He giggled when Audrey looked at him and smiled.

She laughed because that was definitely a fun time for them. “Hmm, I couldn’t help that I found you irritable.” Rachel wrapped her hands around his neck. “Though I still do.” She whispered as she rested her forehead against his. “I think it would be nice to go back to Lima. I personally would like to get out of the city for a while. The media attention… it’s too much.” She had been hiding in the house with Audrey and being in Lima where no one really cared about Broadway would do her some good. “Plus we can see my dads.”

Jesse chuckled as he shook his head at his wife. “You better,” he said leaned against her forehead. He kissed her nose before squeezing her sides. “Yeah. It’s crazy and I want you two to get out of the house,” he smiled as he kissed her. “We can totally go see your dads,” he said as he leaned up to kiss her before hearing Audrey in the other room. “This is going to be a thing with her isn’t it?”

She hummed as he kissed her neck and went through the events of his day. A part of her was jealous that he had a great part but she was happy to be home with their little girl. She had no plans to go back to work yet. “That playpen really is a great use to us for these occasions.” She giggled and turned and kissed him softly. “I love you.”

Jesse stood there and looked down at her smiling. “Yup. Makes me think back to when we first got together and you couldn’t keep your hands off me,” he laughed as he picked her up and sat her down on the counter. “I love you too, babe,” he said as he leaned up and kissed her. “So my parents have been bugging me to come visit sometime soon. Apparently they don’t want to be left out of Audrey’s life like they were mine,” he said rolling his eyes because he really didn’t want to go back to Lima. “What do you say?”

“She’s been practicing, obvisouly she wanted it to be perfect for her daddy.” Rachel said as she watched their daughter cuddle into her father. “It was good, we played and just hung out around here.” She shrugged slightly before heading into the kitchen to check on dinner that was in the oven. “I made lasagna, I hope that’s okay. I didn’t feel like going to the store and that’s what we had to fix without having to order in.” Rachel explained as she grabbed a water. “How was your day?”

“Obviously,” he laughed as he kissed Audrey’s head. He followed her into the kitchen after setting Audrey in her play pin. He watched her for a moment before walking up behind her and wrapping his arms around her. “Lasagna is perfect,” he smiled as he kissed her neck. “My day was good. Did some scenes, recorded some songs, the usual,” he smirked as he continued to kiss her. “Do you realize this is the first time we’re actually alone,” he laughed as he turned her around and placed his hands on her waist.

Rachel was in the bedroom when she heard Jesse yelling for her. She grinned and walked towards him. “I know!” She kissed him happily. “Welcome home, we missed you today.” Kissing him again she kissed their giggling daughter’s cheek. “We’ve been working on crawling for a while now and finally got her going this morning. It wasn’t rough, she was more like scooting than crawling but it was perfect.” The memory was perfect but she instantly knew what Jesse was thinking and held up a finger to him and went into the bedroom and got the video camera and took it back to him.

“Here, I videoed it for you. We miss having you home and I knew that you would want to see it for yourself.” She said happily. Really she was spending so much time at home that she had been thinking about things and how to cherish the memories that she had. Jesse’s accident had really terrified her and she was happy that she got to spend time at home. Mostly because if she got home she’d be attacked by reporters and she refused to deal with that or put her daughter in that kind of position.

Jesse smiled when he saw Rachel. “I missed you guys too,” he said giving Rachel a kiss. “Really?!” he said as his face fell a little feeling bad that he missed it. When Rachel held up a finger he made a face before chuckling when she got the camera. He laughed a little before watching the video and smiling. “Well I think she got the hang of the crawling thing because this isn’t what I saw,” he laughed as he looked at Audrey who rubbed her nose on Jesse’s shoulder.

He glanced over at Rachel and wrapped an arm around her after he put the camera down. “How was your day?” he asked kissing her head.

Little Firsts

Things hadn’t been easy ever since Jesse’s attack. Once the news hit the family had been followed by paparazzi and Rachel had chosen to stay hidden in their house instead of exposing their daughter to the flashing cameras. She was now five months old and had recently started to sit up by herself and was beginning to eat a few solid foods that Rachel was making homemade for her. It was amazing watching her learn new things and how her little personality kept growing more and more.

Rachel had been sitting with her in the living room watching her go up onto all fours and then back down. “You can do it, Auds, crawl for mommy.” She said as she started the video camera so that Jesse could see it. The infant gurgled at her and soon she took one knee in front of the other and slowly inched across the floor before stopping and going back to her stomach and rolling on to her back. “Yes!” Rachel cheered as she stopped recording and moved over to kiss her. “That’s my princess.”

Ever since the accident Jesse’s life hadn’t been the same. The media was on him and wanted to know every detail, not to mention the things that were being made up about him. But now he was finally on set of his new show. The nights have been long and he felt like he was missing out on so much in his life it was like Audrey. When he was finally finished up shooting for the day he made his way home.

As soon as he got home he walked in and heard Audrey laugh. “Hey, princess,” he said when he put his bag down and walked into the living room. He picked the baby up and kissed her forehead loving the laugh he heard. “Rach, I’m home,” he called out as he set Audrey down on the carpet and walked into the kitchen to get a drink. When he turned around he saw Audrey at his feet and made a face. It wasn’t until she started crawling that he freaked out. “Rachel! She’s crawling! Rachel!” Jesse yelled as he picked up Audrey.

Emergency

She sighed and nodded and kissed him softly. “We’ll be back first thing in the morning, promise.” Rachel whispered before kissing him again. “Then you can go home and relax until you’re better.” Audrey cooed and she smiled before handing the little one over to say goodnight to her daddy.

Jesse nodded at Rachel’s words and let out a sigh. He kissed her back before looking at Audrey. “Good because I miss you two a lot,” he chuckled as he kissed Audrey’s cheek and handed the baby over to Rachel. He laid back on his bed and winced when his chest started to hurt. He waved at Rachel and gave her a wink with his signature smirk. “I love you.” he said with a smile as he watched them walk to the door.

Emergency

Audrey woke up and cooed at both of him. “Hey princess, you didn’t sleep very long.” She murmured as she rubbed her back. “I wish we didn’t have to leave you.” Rachel whispered to Jesse but knew that they couldn’t keep the baby in the hospital all night.

Jesse glanced over at Rachel dropping his face a little. “I wish you didn’t have to either. You should go get her home and try to sleep,” he said taking a hand and rubbing her cheek with his thumb.
