“Oh, this is terrible. You just keep going, don’t you?” Lewyn sighed. He’d just have to see if throwing Lex that bone led to any actual conversation, or if he’d just doomed himself to another barrage of poor jokes.
Where did Lex get these, anyways? In Lewyn’s experience, nobles were stuffy at best, and condescending at worst.
“Alright, so you’re proving you’re not full of hot air. But I’ve heard plenty of these before, you know? Comes with the territory.” He leaned back in his seat and faked a yawn to further push the point home that he was bored. That should be obvious enough.
It wasn’t that he genuinely disliked the conversation. But Lewyn had a very cool and aloof reputation to uphold, and at the very least he wasn’t about to let go of that without a fight. He glanced over to the side at Lex. “So, tell me if you catch wind of any new ones, will you. I know we have time to kill, but we can’t possibly fill it all with jokes.”
Unfortunately for Lewyn, Lex was just getting started. He was on a roll now. There was fire in his eyes, a perfect match for his devilish grin. He had a few puns he’d saved for just such an occasion (not that he’d admit that to Lewyn), and now he’d been handed carte blanche to finally use them. Hopefully he wouldn’t accidentally wind up repeating the same pun more than once in this conversation. He had a habit of forgetting what he’d already said. If he did that, he’d never be able to torment Azelle with the details of the conversation. He’d have to take it to his grave instead.
“Honestly,” Lex countered without a moment’s hesitation, “I’ve never been one for shootin’ the breeze. I’d kinda hoped this would make you storm off. Didn’t really expect your disposition to be so sunny. No complaints here though. I really oughta thank you forseti-ng me up for these.” There it was. There was the crowning jewel of his planned puns. Really, it was all downhill from there. He couldn’t top that.
