There were just the four of us in my apartments after supper: Monsieur, me, my son and my daughter. Monsieur, who didnât consider us fine enough company to trouble himself by talking, after a long silence let off a great long fart (by your leave, by your leave). He turned to me and said, âWhat was that Madame?â I turned my behind in his direction, let off in the same tone and said, âthat Monsieurâ. My son said, âIf it comes to that, I can do as well as Monsieur and Madameâ, and let off a good one, too. Then we all laughed and left the room.
Elizabeth Charlotte 1693.Â
Iâm really glad that Philippe and Elizabeth Charlotte enjoyed fart jokes as much as I do.Â

The Yaya Han fabrics are in at Joann Fabrics
And I feel as if you guys need to know about these. Â Because I donât want some unsuspecting cosplayer to waste their money. Â Before I go on, I want to say that I am a costume maker and I have a degree in costume and fashion technology. Â As a part of that degree I had to learn a ton about fabrics and I handle fabrics that range from $2 - $200 a yard every day.
So I came in to this yesterday.  A cart full.  We didnât get too many, you can see they all have the Yaya Han logo on them and they all say âCosplay by Yaya Hanâ on the end.  They all cost $19.99 (on the Joann website, they actually have some that are even more expensive) and are not going on sale any time soon. Included in what was there are these:
7 metallic 4 way stretch fabrics. 1 of these is a print (the red scales??).  Theyâre very similar to the âperformance fabricsâ that are actually across from these in the aisle.  However, theyâre extremely cheaply made and stick to each other.  I can already foresee the horror of having to measure these, all that loud peeling noise of having to separate it all from itself. The only really useful color that was there was the metallic black, which looks a bit like wet look leggings.  The unfortunate thing is that directly across the aisle is the exact same thing.  For cheaper.  Youâre basically paying extra for her name to be on them.
Next is the stretch pleather and the twill.  The pleather was grey, that was the only one there.  It was VERY thin, I could see it pretty much only being used for a body suit or leggings, but the color was so odd I donât know what costume would use it.  The thing was.  Again. It was cheaply made.  It was brand new just out of the plastic and already peeling off of the backing.  Truthfully, this was the one thing I was sort of excited about in this line and Iâd happily use a 50% or 60% off coupon on a couple of yards if it was more substantial.  Itâs the only thing in this line so far that I feel the price is worth it, if it was thicker. (Please note that Joann HAS a stretch pleather for $12.99.  It doesnât stretch as much as this, but it works very well for nice tight sleeves) The twill is described as âcorset twillâ, however, itâs NOT coutil.  I could see it being a nice replacement for it, but itâs not as thick.  The weave is nice (you can see it sort of), but again, something that Joann already sells for $9.99.
And finally, the brocades. Â Theyâre all polyester nylon blend. Â The color range isnât bad and Joann purposely put their peacock brocade on clearance because they were getting these. Â The thing was, I was sort of hoping for a range. Â Something different that wasnât already there, something good for things like Game of Thrones costumes. Â What we got was exactly what we already had, just 60âł instead of 45âł. Â Except for the second blue one (which is peacock feathers) all of the designs are the same paisley. Â Youâre basically paying $10 just for 15 extra inches wide. I want to see the rest of the collection, thereâs a rib knit I found online in it thatâs $29.99 and I need to see what the big deal about this is, when thereâs rib knit at Joann for $9.99 already. Â In my opinion, right now, itâs not worth it. Â Donât waste your money, itâs cheap, it sticks to itself, and itâs exactly whatâs already at Joann. Â The pleather is the only thing I would spend my money on and you can buy it online for cheaper. (Itâs $15 at Mood and at Spandex World). Â These should be out at all Joanns and others may have what we donât so please feel free to add onto this post as you see fit. Â But this is my personal review out of the package of the Yaya Han cosplay fabrics.
Heeeey, thought I would throw in a contribution to this, since I saw the whole collection at my store earlier.
Alright, so first up is what Yaya has listed as her âmilitary faux leather fabricâ, of synthetic leather and tetron cotton. This one seems slightly more structured and by that I mean it wasnât coming apart. However, the studs imprinted on it, especially the larger patterns, were already starting to go flat. The coloration seems odd, given the options that were shown. You have a gold/black mix with a high saturation of black and a silver/black mix with the same issue. These are all priced at $39.99 per yard and thus far, donât seem to live up to that price.Â
Now, for the second and last fabric Iâm going over. The patterned pleather fabric of polyester and spandex. This one was literally falling apart in my hands when I was looking it over, the back was not holding onto it well at all. This one is priced at $29.99 per yard and like OP stated in their post, it is cheaply made, just like the rest of them. So all in all, save your money folks.Â
Susan B Anthony pummeled and arrested for attempting to vote in 1872. She was fined $100 for registering to vote.
Election Day, 1872.
Dear Tumblr,
This is NOT Susan B. Anthony. This is Ada Wright, a British suffragette who was beaten by police on âBlack Fridayâ in 1910.
Ms. Anthony was arrested on November 5, 1872 for voting in the presidential election (straight GOP ticket) and fined $100. She never paid. She was also never beaten or photographed being beaten.
Great stories donât need to be manufactured if theyâre already great.
Thank youâŠ.and regardless the fight undertaken by women (1920), African Americans (1865 & 1964), Native Americans (1924), and other underrepresented groups for the right to vote is amazing and should be given recognition.
But please, please, please use Googleâs reverse image search.
