Let me give y’all a little background on this picture.

For those who don’t recognize it, this is Goofy dressed up as Jacob Marley from Mickey’s Christmas Carol. I saw him once, and only once, in my years working at Disneyland.

Almost a year ago, thesirenofhats asked me a question about this Goofy, saying that she once saw him, but that cast members she’d asked about him since then had had no idea what she was talking about. I told her a story about the day I saw him, and how I may have (inadvertently) killed the character.

Then late last night, this picture showed up in my submission box (Lilly, who submitted it, has a Disney blog at http://hotandcoldrunningchills.tumblr.com/, but you may have known her until recently as seacastlexstech).

I’ve searched high and low for a picture of him for years without luck, so I’m downright giddy as I write this.

I don’t have a source for the image, so I’m afraid I can’t credit — even a google image search just points to tumblr’s #Jacob Marley tag, but I scrolled all the way down to where no more posts loaded and didn’t see any post with the image in it.

But for those who remember that post from June of 2012, I’m excited to prove that neither Gaby nor I made it up when we said that Goofy once hung out on the Haunted Mansion balcony dressed as Jacob Marley.
