Regramming this unbelievably moving gesture bestowed upon my local "Cheers" bar from @bgrtheoneandonly. Four years ago I first set foot in 1220, and though I'm an Ally and not a member of the LGBTQ community they welcomed me into their family with open arms. 1220 quickly became a sanctuary for me during a time when I was struggling to find my place. I formed invaluable friendships with people resulting in opportunities that have greatly enriched my life. They've proven time and time again that they will ALWAYS stand up and protect anyone regardless of race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or ability, without a second thought. To have the place that I've called a second home, be recognized by others in the community, floods my heart with all of the feels. I won't deny that I'm terrified of all the violence, hate, and intolerance permeating our country. But I'm a determined optimist. So, let this kindness serve as a constant reminder that LOVE will always win. #club1220 will be holding a vigil tonight outside its doors to remember all those affected by the shooting in Orlando tonight at 6:30. All are welcome, I highly encourage everyone who canto go out and show your support. Oh you know, this guy just lifted the equivalent of two baby elephants or one Siberian tiger without using any part of his legs (evidently that can help? Idk). But I do know this ranks him not just top of his Paralympic class but puts him in line with many able bodied lifters as well. No big.
