Officer: "Is there a k9 available for a drug sniff?"
Dispatcher: "negative sir"
Officer: "10-4 I'll sniff around"
When you get forced overtime on your day off and everyone feels the need to say they're sorry and feel bad.
When you volunteer to work overtime.
When a caller/officer gets attitude with you.
When an officer spells a name phonetically, got me like
When you call an officer on the radio and they don't answer.
Dispatcher: "Any weapons?" Caller: "No just a bag of cookie crisp cereal."
We all know when a 911 operator raises their voice and tells you to "HAVE A NICE DAY SIR/MAAM" and then hangs up on you, it means anything but "have a nice day".
"Good luck with the plunger"
-Things overheard in the Dispatch Center.
My reaction when someone calls 911 and says: "I need the police tomorrow"
Its the challenging calls where your caller gives you super limited information and you get people the help they need that make this job worth it.
When someone calls 911 fifteen times wanting a ride home and they arrested instead.
When entering the same juvenile run away into NCIC for the seventh time....
Took a medical call, elderly lady said her husband is next to her in bed and wasn't breathing, everyone hauls ass over there, turns out her husband has been dead for years...
When you call someone back on a 911 hang up and they get angry saying they didn't call...
When you get a phase 2 on little kids that have called 911 fifty times from a 911 only phone.
YOU want us to come give YOU a parking ticket so you can prove to your room mate he can't park there?
-things over heard in the dispatch center.
