This serves me nostalgia for how I played with food as a child.

When dinner included broccoli and a bowl of rice, I would smush the rice in my bowl with a spoon, until the rice was a completely flat surface (instead of being "rounded" in the bowl like before). The rice would now be the ~ground~. Then I'd stick the broccoli florets into the ground, as if the broccoli florest were ~little trees~ growing from the earth.

This is a similar photo, except the rice would be smushed flatter, and the broccoli florets would be stuck upright into the rice:
