Happy Holidays from D.O.T.
December is filled with so many holidays, Distance Over Time wants to celebrate them all! From Zamenhof Day (named after the inventor of Esperanto) to the celebration of Winter Solstice, we want to celebrate the last month of the year with giving away December holiday cards. Have a look at our 1/1 edition of holiday cards with various abstract depictions of December holidays below! There are only a few in this series just like the holidays in December, so first come first serve. If you would like to receive one of those as a holiday present, please send your mailing address to [email protected]
Perspectives, Part 1 by Fabian Zapatka Available December 1, 2014
Distance Over Time is pleased to announce Perspectives Pt.1, the first in a new series of books by the photographer Fabian Zapatka, in a numbered and signed limited edition of 300. Fabian Zapatka is a photographer of the everyday. Through the pictures of this series we are allowed a glimpse into the daily routine of basic research in a laboratory for animal testing, a type of work that is part of the everyday in research labs in Germany and globally. The images present us with perspectives that are deeply ambivalent: A pig is lying in a supine position on an operating table, covered by a warmed blanket to prevent hypothermia, surrounded by medical equipment. There is a strong familiarity to the situation, it is a strikingly human image. The aim of the research that is taking place in this lab and others like it is to find ways to extend the life of patients confronted with imminent death. By means of photography we - as the viewers - can take part in learning processes with a deadly outcome.
