“Yeah, maybe” he returned the nod “So, you have a family back where you’re from?”
Thresh nodded. “I’m the oldest of six kids.”
clove was ready to duck out of the way of his rock, aiming to throw her knife again. then she noticed his hesitation to throw it, like he was thinking over whether or not he should attempt to kill her. “what ?? ” she asked him, “can’t you DO it ?? can’t you KILL me ?? ” Her tone was mocking but she was thankful inside, she knew she couldn’t entirely fight off this guy on her own, she was too small and he was too brute. she only hoped her faithfulness wasn’t misplaced and if he did kill her, then cato would avenge her death.
“Just this one time, two. I owe you nothing.” A familiar saying left his lips. Until he knew more about where he was and what was going on, keeping Clove around was what he’ll do. Even if that meant he was in danger of getting hurt or worse, death. One thing for sure was he wasn’t scared of what was to come next. He killed her once, he’d do it again if he had to. It was a battle Clove couldn’t win unless she had the help of others. Which was slim, as no other tributes were lingering around Palm Springs.
turbo-kid:
“I don’t know” he bit his lip. “I was trying to save Apple, and I think I might have passed out in the dinosaur graveyard, next thing I know I woke up here.”
Thresh nodded his head. “Maybe we could help each other get back home?” He asked.
Who do you ship my muse with?
debbiegcllagher:
“Don’t mind me.”
Thresh looked at the girl, curious as to what she was doing. Being chained to a door was a bit out of the ordinary, and that was saying a lot for him. Thresh has seen a lot of odd things in his life. “Then, I’ll be on my way?” He questioned, rocking on his heels just standing there a few extra moments.
turbo-kid:
“Oh. Well, if you get back I hope you win. I’m not sure how you’ll get back though. No one can even tell me how any of us got here to start with.”
“Thanks.” He looked at the other skeptically. Thresh wasn’t really sure what to believe or what was really going on. “How did you even get here?”
turbo-kid:
Victor’s Tour, Panem, Capitol. All words that he didn’t recognize. It seemed no one else that came here was from the Wasteland. “So, it’s pretty important to win, not just because it means you’re still alive.” Being alive was what had mattered after escaping Zeus’. It had been what mattered everyday in the Wasteland. “Is Panem where you’re from?”
“Yes, winning could help out my family. My district. It means everything to me to win. I want to be the victor to better my life and most important to be alive.” His voice was filled with determination. “Yeah,”
clove’s smirk only GREW as the fight went on. him stumbling back was his TELL TALE HEART, the petite girl coiled her arm pack, her aim true to his right leg, hoping to handicap him RATHER than kill him, as much as she wanted to, she knew information was needed FIRST. without so much as a pause, she let the knife FLY, hoping it would find it’s target.
Thresh was angry with himself for losing his grip, for letting her free. Though the wheels in his mind was turning as it was a fight for survival. Without moments to spare Thresh saw the knife flying through the air dodging it just barely. For many, it was probably stupid to see a kid carrying around a rock all the time, but he knew for moments like this it would come in handy. Thankfully it was just tossed aside as he was holding her. The eighteen year old picked it up and raised his arms to throw it. If he were lucky, he’d reach the target. But he something in his gut was telling him not to. Stupid, as he was in a battle to the death. Or so he thought. In order to kill, he needed answers. What was he up against and why was he here? Was this even part of the games?
turbo-kid:
“I don’t really know either, just that it’s a place and we’re in it. What happens if you kill all of them?” he asked. This reminded him a little of Zeus’ place. Only he hadn’t been the only survivor, and even after they’d defeated Zeus’ men the warlord was going to have them killed and thrown into the grinder.
He felt more at ease when he realized he wasn’t the only person who didn’t know what Palm Springs, California was. “What happens is you get to go on a Victors Tour and visit the Districts of the fallen in Panem. You also receive income from the Capitol and special status - like live in the victors village and you also have to mentor future tributes.” He explained.
turbo-kid:
“Some place called California. I’m not entirely sure where it’s at. Protect yourself from what?” he asked, raising a brow. It seemed that his suspicions had been correct about wherever it was the other boy had come from.
“I don’t know what a California is.” He admitted. “I’m a tribute in the 74th Annuel Hunger Games. I’m just trying to make it out alive by killing all my other competitors.” This was probably the most he’s ever spoken to someone outside of his family.
Clove struggled against his grip, “District 11, Thresh, is it? How NICE it is to see my next target here,” she smirked as a means of distracting him. Maneuvering her hand, she managed to reach into her pocket, grabbing one of her many knives stashed. Reaching upward, she managed to SLASH his arm, HOPEFULLY deep enough for him to stagger backwards or lose his grip so she could wiggle her way out.
He rolled his eyes, her silly taunts didn’t scare him in the slightest. If anything seeing a career only added fuel to the fire. Thresh wanted to take her down. In some way he felt like he was in control since she was wriggling against his grip. Thresh wasn’t going to let her free. If anything, he needed to win. Killing her was the only option. Except something happened he didn’t even think about. Clove pulled out her knife. And the slash in his arm made stagger backwards losing the grip he had on her. Thresh bit back the pain as he let nothing show that he was hurt. A sign of weakness was enough for him to lose it all.
ciscorcmon:
“no biggie,” he said with a mere shrug of his shoulders, taking notice of the stranger’s facial expressions. the male looked young and confused, two words commonly strung together, but cisco couldn’t help but assume the stranger was one of the people that weren’t part of this universe. “do you need anymore help?”
Help, those words rung in his ears for a while. Thresh needed a lot of help. For starters, he didn’t understand what was going on. One minute he was in the field running from the attacker, next moment he’s here, in Palm Springs, California. Where ever that was, he thought. He sighed, wary of accepting help from the stranger. “I’m Thresh.” So he introduced himself. Maybe if he seemed like a trust worthy guy he’d then accept the help and ask more questions.
anniecresta-love:
“Woah!” she clutched onto her son as she looked at the guy in front of her. “Uh oh..another 74th tribute. This is Palm Springs, California. The year is 2015.”
The rock in his hands fell to the ground immediately, as he saw a baby in the women’s arms. One thing was for sure, he wasn’t going to attack a child. “You’ve seen other tributes here?” This kept the boy on edge. His eyes kept darting around in case this was a trap. At this point, it felt like one. “I’m not sure I understand.” To Thresh’s knowledge he didn’t know anything about a Palm Springs, California.
turbo-kid:
“Some place called Palm Springs” the kid answered him, his eyes shifting from his face to the rock in his hand. He wondered where the other had come from to be holding one that size. The way it had been raised before seemed like maybe wherever the other had been before had been somewhere he’d needed to use it for defense. “What’s with the rock?”
“Palm Springs?” He said allowed, although it was a statement it came out more like a question. “Do you know where that is?” He wondered. A sigh escaped his lips as he was more confused than ever. Was this a part of the Hunger Games or not. The rock in his hand slowly dropped to the ground. As large as it was he made sure he didn’t hurt himself in the process. Thresh noticed he wasn’t wearing the tribute attire so he had to at least be in safe company for now. He folded his arms over his chest, thinking of proper wording for an answer about his rock. “I use it to protect myself.” He smirked.
rebeccaxsutterx:
“I wish I knew why I was here? Maybe it answer all the questions in my head? I’m so lost and confused? Can you – god, I feel this goes against everything I believe in – sit with me? Just for a few minutes?”
Thresh stood quietly as the other spoke. Though he didn’t have much to say he was listening. Thresh rocked on his heels almost making it apparent he but something was making him stay. So he walked over to the other, taking a seat. “Sure, I’ll stay.”
“what the HELL ?? this is not the arena… tell me where I am or I will slit your throat.”
“I’d like to see you try.” Thresh challenged. He wasn’t scared of a district two career, plus without Cato by her side she was an easier kill. With that being said, he still clutched the rock in his hand a little tighter, just in case something was going to happen.
