The Hatchetfield universe is a fictional town in Michigan where the Team StarKid series takes place, centered around an ongoing supernatural conflict involving the town's founding, a witch named Willabella Muckwab, and the eldritch gods known as the Lords in Black. A secretive group, the Hatchetmen, founded the town in 1824 after executing Willabella and created a "soul jar" using the town and Witchwood Forest to contain the Lords in Black. This is achieved by sacrificing people with magical abilities, whose souls are trapped in trees, creating a psychic web that keeps the gods sealed. Key landmarks like the Lakeside Mall and Hatchetfield High were established by the Waylon Family, while the Church of the Starry Children was founded by them and plays a crucial role in the town's later events. This is also where the musicals The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals (ironic, I know), Black Friday, and Nerdy Prudes Must Die take place.
