The latest installment in this hugely popular, and largely grossing, franchise is proof that these movies have taken a lead on Hollywood diversity since the release of the first film back in 2001. This article gives a wonderful explanation of how the creators of these movies have felt how important it was to make sure that the cast had a diverse representation because that is how America actually is. These movies have taken people from all different cultures and banded them together to create a multicultural “family” that are all reaching for the same goal. Other Hollywood films should take note and follow the lead of the Fast & Furious franchise, especially considering how profitable it has become.

“Minorities Underrepresented by a Factor of About 7 to 1 among Lead Roles in Broadcast Comedies and Dramas”

This information, and more of the same, can be found in the 2014 Hollywood Diversity Report. This report, which is now published with new information every year, is supported by the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at UCLA. This center provides reports that show up the shocking statistics about how big the diversity gap really is in Hollywood.
