That sinking feeling reached his stomach. The young girl was all alone, and her brother had been lost along the way. It wasn't that Alexander immediately assumed the worst, after all he had a big chest and it could store a lot of hope.
But it was the conformation she was completely and utterly alone.
How could he walk away now and keep his head held high? Short answer, he couldn't.
"Keep the coin." he uttered, lowering down to his knee. "In fact, you can hold onto my entire coin purse if you promise to travel with me."
He offered a little smile then. She seemed like she could handle herself, sure, but what about when she couldn't. What about when a situation came up where her brother would step in to defend her? In his absence, Alexander wanted to fill that role.
"See the sword on my hip, the shield on my back? I do a lot of fighting. I'm not so good at patching myself back up though, so, how about it? We'll travel together, I'll pay for our meals and all, and sometimes you help me with a magic potion?"
