Coasts is the result of a unique evolutionary process, a classic example of survival of the fittest, that has seen the band evolve from various musical projects, covering an expansive range of genres. Conceived almost a year ago in the chapel of a nearby church, where the unique ‘shimmery trop-pop’ sound of Coasts took its first fledgling steps. This Bristol-born five-piece - the same lineup remaining as one throughout - has a wealth of musical knowledge and understanding, which becomes glaringly apparent through their concise, catchy song structures and animated and dynamic live performances. The band have made swift progress, honing their sound through constant gigging and touring across the UK, where the bands exciting live show – back lit tropical tie dye sheets made to ripple like water and vintage football games (played in reverse) projected onto huge backdrops, just some examples of past visual live additions - sees their fan base continually grow. With a strong and congruous sun-drenched, tropical vibe running throughout all facets of the band’s sound and identity, Coasts are are highly ambitions, yet laid-back and unassuming group of long-term friends with a diverse plethora of musical idols and influences. Their sound reflects this and though summery, upbeat and dance centred their music incorporates a much darker, fuzzier, slacker-rock element. With no official release to date, early demos (Stay and Lions) were leaked on to the social networks, where they picked up critical acclaim from the blogosphere, publications such as Art Rocker and spins on Radio 1. These early demos found their way into the hands of enigmatic producer Duncan Mills (Sissy & The Blisters, The Vaccines, Peace, Crocodiles to name a few) who’s unrelenting enthusiasm for the bands music has seen them visit the famous Strong Room studios to create a series of tracks.
