rickyl first scene makes me laugh SO HARD

#season 1 episode 3 by the way. why is it necessary that they have immediate established sexual tension before they even directly speak #anyway guess what im watching again. its season 1. i cant say im rewatching twd because i never make it past s3. i get bored. sorry.#i love s1 rickyl because they say so little but so so much. rick is still feeling everyone out and daryl just wont talk to anyone and yet #they meet each other's needs perfectly once they start cooperating with each other. and even before then its like they can read each others #minds. rick can look at daryl right here and know just how much of a threat he is and he can tell what daryl is good at and he can tell wha #daryl is bad at and in this moment you can tell that he Wants him. he Wants daryl to be His. he wants him on his team. he wants him in his #holster. he sees daryl big bright shiny trigger and his well-trained finger is itching to be the one to choose to pull it UUGGHH theyre #everything to me. rick right here chooses to stand down so that he can stand up to daryl later. at a time where he knows daryl will submit.#and rick knows that once he gets that submission he will change roles in daryls mind and he knows he wont have him immediately. he knows #daryl will fight him first. and thats why he needs to tell daryl right now that he's willing to stand back and stop pushing him sometimes.#he needs daryl to know that rick will give him his space sometimes when he wants to gnash his teeth in the way that makes him feel safe.#SAVE ME EARLY SEASONS RICKLY SAVE MEEEE #rickyl #daryl dixon #rick grimes #image #twd #the walking dead #silly #hero's rickyl

since you asked so nicely, here are a few messy sketchy silly things i have of him lying around :) sorry it's not much of substance >__<

these are sketches of him post-fall but pre-rick !

the idea for cowboy and rick's initial dynamic was for cowboy to be a tepid little thing, mainly because i like to explore rick's more intrusive and controlling sides as time goes on :) rick himself is a very multifaceted character and i wanted cowboy to tick some of the notches of his that we don't explicitly see very often, especially when cowboy begins to become more independent and confident. i want to someday write a scene of them where cowboy is growing into himself and has begun asking questions and rick starts playing different mental games with different equations on him to test him.

i really like writing s2/farm cowboy because very few people respect him, and it's interesting for him to be a successful, and relatively independent, zombie apocalypse survivor and yet many see him (and even treat him) like he is entirely pathetic. you can imagine how shane sees "another useless mouth to feed" like him. fortunately, he's mostly in the horse barn before shane dies- and then cowboy survives him. funny how the loudest mouths eat the most and yet point the finger. cowboy gains a little more confidence after that.
