Somehow, this seems like an awful headline to me. I understand that the majority were probably in North Carolina. And there were deaths elsewhere. But if you're extending this sentence structure, it could just be saying that tornadoes killed people, in the world. I mean,
Tornadoes kill 43 in North Carolina and Elsewhere.
Man murders people in New York City and Elsewhere.
It rained in the U.S. and elsewhere.
People exist in the world and elsewhere. (Ok, maybe not that one.)
The time Grand Central froze.
Duke is CUTTING OFF TV SERVICE IN STUDENTS' ROOMS? WTF?
Since when has HDTV been "on its way out"? Seriously? And their reasoning was that "you guys are all watching TV online these days"? I am glad I am not going to be here for this madness.
Dear students, I am writing to let you know that in-room cable television service will no longer be available in campus residences, as of the end of the Spring 2011 semester. The current cable system is aging, and substantial upgrades that would cost in the neighborhood of $1 million would be required to continue offering the service. Installation of any system to replace in-room cable services would incur similar costs. Meanwhile, statistics show that 85 percent of you are getting your television online, and that this number is growing steadily each year. As online offerings continue to increase, we expect even less interest in cable subscriptions. Instead of spending money on a technology that is clearly on its way out, OIT and RLHS have invested in bandwidth upgrades to handle your growing demand for online viewing. Further, we will install HD IPTV in common rooms across campus, beginning in June. IPTV will offer significant improvement in channel selection over the existing cable offering, as you have requested. Conversations with student leaders from DSG are on-going to explore all possibilities. If you have any questions, an open forum will be held in the next few weeks to discuss the details of these changes. Questions can also be sent to me [email protected]. Sincerely, Joe Gonzalez Associate Dean for Residential Life

My professor gave us a handout typed in Comic Sans so I proceeded to spend the rest of class making this. <3

Take that, Comic Sans!
Good addendum to the previous comic sans head shaking.
Duke needs to get this asap.
Bucket list.
Just for you, mtru!

Though the season did not end like we hoped, I will always love Kyle and Nolan. Thanks for an excellent four years! I will definitely miss watching you guys play with a Duke jersey. Good luck in the NBA!
Seconded.
"Also, I'm half white and half black. So people didn't think I was selling out, anyway. I'm covered. I'm good either way."
Goal: To climb all of these one day!
Not. I could probably do the Pyramid, though.
It was like a bizarre poker game where Pittsburgh said, "I see your dumb foul -- and I raise you."
Yup, that is exactly right. -Jay Bilas, ESPN
In which I got an online NYTimes subscription for free
This morning, got an email from the NYTimes which I originally thought was spam, except that it came from an @nytimes.com address. Email:
Dear NYTimes.com reader, As a frequent reader of NYTimes.com, you’ve demonstrated an uncommon interest in a wide variety of today’s most important topics. This makes you anything but average. In fact, it can’t help but make you “smarter” — just the kind of person we at Lincoln want to engage. Though NYTimes.com will soon begin charging for unlimited access*, Lincoln is offering you a free digital subscription for the remainder of 2011. Enjoy all that NYTimes.com has to offer every day — investigative news and special reports, videos, blogs and more. It’s all yours at no charge, compliments of Lincoln. Take advantage of this limited-time offer** to receive free, unlimited access to NYTimes.com.
SCORE! Except, there was no link. And in the news articles about this slick NYTimes scheme, they mention a link. So using my problem solving skills, I pulled up the source email. IN WHICH I USED MAD HTML SPY SKILLS TO FERRET OUT THE A HREF CLICK-THROUGH LINK! Remember a href?????
And it worked. Subscription confirmed.
Lastly--Lincoln? Really?
SCSD! there are no words. if there were, they would be highly supportive
