Everything Jamie XX touches is just gold. I won't be mad if I hear this every day of Memorial Weekend.

You come at the king... you best not miss
As is traditional - my anti-valentine's day playlist.
I didn't realize we'd lost Marlena Shaw until this morning. Y'all - I can't even guess how many times I've spun California Soul or Woman of the Ghetto in some form or another.
Going to be on Isla Mujeres for a month starting in 2 weeks. Starting my carribean music vibes early
Trainwreck of a life in many ways, but what a songwriter.
RIP - Shane MacGowan
Throwback monday!
Listen to This Wreckage by Gary Numan #np on #SoundCloud
And and it's grandfather - As a high school Junion, this album literally changed me.
Basement Jaxx - Still hard after all these years
Goodness, what a tasty rework. I listen to so little to the music that I lived on in the 80s, even if I still like it (fairly typical punk, new wave, janglepop - The Clash, Elvis Costello, REM, B-52s, etc.). TomTom Club are just EVERYWHERE in samples so it's unsurprising that Talking Heads can be reworked into a glorious disco house anthem. This will be on the decks this weekend.
I got put in that late night weekend mood about 48 hours early when this hit my soundcloud feed. Deep House + pop = tasty
Happy Indigenous People's Day "if you wanna change the world, go home and love your family"
I bet you didn't know you need a grungy guitar version of Genuwine - Pony. You do. It's awesome.
This just popped up in my SoundCloud feed this morning. I'm going to be walking around with the stank face for an hour. Zero chance I stumble over anything today that hits harder than James Brown on the one.
Listen to Troy by sineadoconnor #np on #SoundCloud
I can't really summarize Sinead's impact on me in any reasonable way - mindless slamming of Mandinka at an industrial dance club at 2am, emotive rawness of grieving to Stretched on your Grave. But a 30-song playlist with personal notes is self-indulgent. Her power and vulnerability, naivety and wisdom are unmatched. Her embrace of hip-hop, defiance of the catholic church and corporate music machinery, struggles in dealing with an abusive childhood, miscarriages, maternal instincts and progressive cause warrior. Battles to make sense of life, to find peace and acceptance, especially after the loss of her son - are all there, carved into the flesh of her music from This song has been there for me a long time and I've seen it through many different lenses. A love song about an abusive parent and sibling conflict later repurposed as a killer trance club song. Like everything she did - it's got layers. Slán abhaile - being who you are, there was no other Troy, for you to burn.
Ever hear a straight up jazz cover of Nirvana? You have now.
Happy Bastille Day, Y'all. Go celebrate in proper french style - fireworks, grilled sausage and cold beer.
