Way too much snow, Mom.
Snuggling into her fur buddy, 18 week old Dora recovers from an exhausting morning of unrolling paper towels.
Dora, my adorable rescue, at 12 weeks.

I started out clicking strategically… and by the end was just wildly clicking and dancing in my chair.

CLICK THE SQUARES.
THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS.
THIS THIS THIS THIS!
I have experimented with several online communication sites, and along the way discovered what I most want to accomplish in a blog: developing and sharing family stories, particularly of the genealogical kind. I can't keep up all of my experiments and thus you are redirected. . . .
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

A little government and a little luck are necessary in life, but only a fool trusts either of them.

So much fun to have a president who inspires the world!
Oh, Happy Day!
C on Inauguration Day
I have not wanted to declare that I was American with such fervor since I was a child, when everyone was in the post-WWII habit of waving flags and singing patriotic songs whenever possible.
On this Inauguration Day I was not alone in wanting to proclaim "We are America!", as loudly, with as many flags as possible.
. . . .In the end, only a democracy can enlist a people's energies on a sustained and renewable basis. To guarantee the individual maximum freedom within a social frame of minimal laws ensures — if not happiness — its hopeful pursuit.

My attempt to capture the wonder of this moment, with just a click on the photo you can share in my slideshow of the Preinaugural Concert.
Change Is Coming
I have returned, physically, from a most extraordinary celebration weekend. Mentally I am still playing catch up. Just what is it that I witnessed?
Hundreds of thousands of Americans reaching up, and reaching out, to hope.
Change is coming.

The holiday busy-ness excused me from pursuing a concrete solution. At last I have resorted to a desktop, that I had to get fixed before I could use it, so that I could bear to part with my half witted laptop to get it fixed.
So for 2009 I will resolve to just putter at least three days a week. When my laptop is being stupid, again, I will go to the ancient tower. When there are no photos available to post, I will write about my family history project or about my photographic experiments or about wonderful quotes I collect.
There. I have made public my resolution about diligently pursuing the art, craft and science of storytelling through photos and words . This announcement is supposed to encourage me to actually translate the resolution into resolve into action.
I guess I will see at year's end just how successful this pronouncement is.
