At last, I am ready to post this: In October last Evil collapsed. We rushed hime straight to the vets and, after many tests, was diagnosed with incurable lymphatic cancer. Chemo would have only given him a couple more months, and it is a rough enough experience for humans, let alone a 16 year old cat. So we decided to let him live out days in comfort. He died in our arms on the 21st of December. He has been such a big part of our lives, and was such a big personality. Long time, no post. We're sorry about that. It's been an emotional and eventful time. Our last post was at the end of September 2020, which was an update on Dragon's health. He had many tests and scans, and our vet spoke to some other veterinary experts, but they couldn't work out why his liver was breaking down. Unfortunately, this meant there was no treatment to cure it and it was just palliative care from that point forward. So November and December 2020 was spent giving him all the love and cuddles, finding food that he still enjoyed and making him comfortable. He died on Boxing Day in the early hours of the morning. On his last day (Christmas Day) he had turkey and ham diced into tiny bites, with some cat milk. He enjoyed it and spent the day curled up with momma watching Xmas TV, playing with wrapping paper and watching the twinkling lights on the tree. Sorry we haven't posted for so long. Here's an update on how Dragon's health: Dragon had an ultrasound on his abdomen to check his liver. ➡️ swipe to see his shaved belly 😻 There's no swelling or abnormalities of his liver or anything, so that's good. But he's still losing weight. He had a course of antibiotics as it could have been an infection. He's finished those now and had more blood taken for tests last week. His blood pressure and temperature were good though, so that is positive. The vet wonders if it all might be to do with his hyperthyroidism, but we have to wait for the blood test results to know for sure. Had another vets appointment this morning for another blood test. It's been just over two weeks since the dose of my thyroid medication was increased. Unfortunately, I've lost more weight, so it looks like the meds may not be working. The vet said some cats don't respond to thyroid medication. She took lots of little vials of blood for testing. I was a very patient boy and sat quietly whilst she did it. We'll have to wait for the results to see what my thyroid levels are now.
