Fashionistas eagerly await the return of Fashion Week. Baseball fans gear up for Opening Day.

Me? I nerd out when Detroit Restaurant Week announces its menus and salivate over the offerings as I plot my reservation.

I've been to Atlas Global Bistro three times every year for DRW. I always say I'm going to try something different and I never do. Overall for the food and the service, Atlas is one of the better deals on the list.

A rundown of what I had:

Scallop (top left): Perfectly seared with a sharp and bold pickled pepper. Edamame puree was luscious, but needed a little bit of salt. Only complaint: Not enough!

Et tu salad (top right): A shameful amount of dressing; no wonder Caesar was stabbed in the back. Next.

Short rib (middle): Probably one of the better dishes of the evening. Tender, falling apart short rib complemented with pickled beets. Risotto could've been cooked more as it was a bit crunchy.

Desserts: We selected the ice cream and creme brulee (pictured). Creme brulee was quite beautiful with a delectable caramel coating on the bottom. More of that please! The vanilla gelato had a decadent dark chocolate truffle that overshined the ice cream.

Overall a good experience. I'll be going for four in a row next time.
